All these transfers City, Liverpool are looking to do along with Arsenal is all a bit disheartening imo. They have the power and financial muscle to pay the big wages.  Feels like it’s going to get harder and harder to stay up there

Even if all of them plus Chelsea and Manchester Utd buy 5 of the best players on the market each, that’s 25 players across the planet. We’ve got to hope between our scouts, Howe and our owners we can still land plenty of decent talent. Botman and Tonali weren’t at the top of their lists and Isak and Bruno we got in front of Arsenal to get. I’m not going to get disheartened before the window even opens, we still haven’t had UCL confirmed so cannot act officially anyhow

You are absolutely right.  Would like us to make an early move

I would love us to do business early so all signings have the majority of pre season to get to know squad and to get Howe fit, so we can hit the road from the onset next season.

I guess, but this has basically been the case forever and we’re just about to finish 3rd or even 2nd. So yeah it’s not fair but we are able to compete at the top level.

Guehi to Chelsea…

Fofana (seen as key man), Colwill, Chalobah.... They bought Tosin and he's still on the bench with Fofana injured.

This is a warning for anyone like Guehi wanting to play for England, given that Hall and Tino (and now Burn) are in the England squad from getting on the pitch and impressing. Fair dos if Guehi wants to stay in London, but not the safest of career moves.

Why you need a good scouting system. I maintain from the FFP thread, we don’t need to have their levels of spending to challenge for league and win, if we have spurs level that’s more than enough. Beyond that, it’s just overspending for the sake of it.

There’s plenty of good quality players out there, just need to find them with a patient approach and have a top manager.

Chelsea have a buy back/sell on option though. Think they want to move on Chalobah.

Good. One less club to link Isak to all summer.

Assuming we keep growing at our current rate (28% reported for the 12 months ending 30 June 2024) then we should be okay as that will allow us financial clout to improve each year regardless of what the others do. There are a few players out there that I can think of (and likely a lot more) who would improve our current first team squad from mid table teams in France, Germany and Spain for example that Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester won't be looking at.

What position is he going to play?

Not sure I've ever seen him play as an orthodox right back, only as a very attacking wing back/winger in a 5 man midfield.

I know TAA isn't the best defensively 1v1, but the way he played is proactive defending by pushing the opposition back through his expansive ability on the ball.
