Other clubs' transfers

Recommended Posts

Plus when I was talking to folks last year and said I was more worried about Liverpool poaching Isak than Arsenal, I kept being reassured that Liverpool don't spend big on players and prefer to buy cheap and develop.

Well this is clearly a change in tactic.

I get why it's happening, but can the people "at the top" not see the eventual problem with the big clubs simply hoovering up all of the best players of the rest every season? It's weakening the PL brand. It's gonna be (more) boring as fuck soon.

Liverpool have near enough bought a new start eleven over the last three transfer windows right?

Mamardashvili, Frimpong, Guehi,

Lucioni, Kerkez, Endo, Gravenbach, Mac Allister, Szoboszlai, Ekitike, Isak.

Have I missed anyone?

Edit: missed Wirtz, unintentionally

Its been a crazy good window for Liverpool. I cant recall a better one for a prem team

I think the only sure ones are Isak and Guehi tbh, and I think £165m for that pair is fantastic in fairness. Kerkez will probably come good too and Ekitike has started well, though it remains to be seen what his role will be now.

The jury is out on Wirtz, not even based on his first 4 games but I was always a bit dubious, especially given the price tag. I can't see Frimpong doing much in a back 4.

It matters not, though. Even if Wirtz or Ekitike flop, they can just buy the new in-thing in 3 years time for another 9 figure sum.

They are brilliant sellers mind. Some of the coin they get for bog standard shit is amazing.

That was the case years ago though before the injection of TV money.

The hoovering has been unprecedented this summer. So, so many players from the mid-range going to the ESL clubs. There's always a few, every year, but not too these numbers.
