Superior Acuña
I kind of just wish he'd go now. His presence papers over cracks, gives us hope we shouldn't have. He's the one thing I think that's keeping people, including myself, attached to the club. At least when he goes, more people can accept that this club is dead with Ashley there. Guest Howaythetoon
Who did he leave out at the weekend that are regular starters? Dubravka, Perez and Rondon? 3 players, one a ‘keeper, one who has had to endure some stick from the stands recently and a striker we have on loan from a Championship club - the pair with a combined 8 league goals between them from 22 and 17 games respectively. Would they have made such a huge difference had they started guaranteeing a win? If those in attendance rate them that highly and their importance to the team’s chances of beating Watford, just imagine how much more Rafa rates them and their importance to the team’s chances of beating... relegation! We are not talking about some of the best player’s in the world here, we are talking about players who are only marginally better shite than the other shite the manager has to work with. Shite that he’s been working with pretty much from day one, some faces might be different, but that’s about all. It’s fanciful to look at the FA Cup as anything other than a waste of time under Ashley because even our strongest team whatever that is can’t compete with a weakened Watford team, not in any realistic sense when viewed in true context anyway. And that truth is Watford can afford to make 11 changes and take or leave the FA Cup, higher up the ladder other clubs can afford to field their second string with players that cost more than our entire squad. We can’t take it or leave it when it comes to the FA Cup, we don’t have the luxury of a large squad or any depth of quality to even take advantage of a team making 11 changes and with home advantage. We can’t afford to give the FA Cup our best shot or even a shot. We only have survival to aim for and Rafa is effectively having to aim for that blindfolded with blanks as it is. Meanwhile others in the shoot-out have the equiverlent of automatic machine guns and hand grenades. The only automatic machine Rafa has is his club car, a Rover the club forgot to give back to sponsors in the 80s. Rafa’s doubled the mileage on it though and it still gets him to training and back despite runnng on two cylinders, worn break pads, budget tires, the AC blown and the radio unable to pick up BBC World Service. The boot is huge though since the rear seats were removed after they were no longer needed, not after the club gave free bus passes to members of staff for finishing tenth. More room for cones and pop up goals. Anyway another early FA Cup exit seems to have angered a lot of people. Me, I’m more angred by all those morons - all 36k of them - pointing the finger of blame at Rafa and the players as to why there would be no 5th round draw with our name in the hat and shucks there goes another chance of a trophy than anything else. If only he picked our strongest team, kept Ritchie on... if only the manager and players would for once take the cups seriously. The only people at the club that takes things seriously are the manager, his staff and the players because the owner certainly doesn’t and the fans aren’t taking what is happening seriously at all. If they did they wouldn’t need it spelled out for them because it’s fucking obvious. For the FA Cup read the Premier League, read transfers, wages, facilities, the training ground and stadium, read NEWCASTLE UNITED. Don’t bother looking for where it reads Football Club, there is no such thing and anyone expecting to see it, you can’t be serious
sempuki
That last line from the Independent is interesting. Sounds like he might be gone after Thursday (as there's no chance we'll get anyone in who is decent).
Bimpy474
I don't really care. Under this owner whether it's Rafa Benitez or Tony fucking Adams makes no difference Well i don't know like.
Disco
What a fucking predictable, and easily avoidable, mess. Joke club.
Yorkie
I didn't think I'd ever get this far, but I think I've probably teetered over into wanting him to go ASAP. With Ashley's takeover agendas finally confirmed as being vexatious/altogether false; Benítez's departure truly is inevitable now so there is no point in delaying it. I want to know for sure if the wider fanbase can ever be relied upon to act in the greater good because, if not, I can start the grieving process properly. Rafa leaving mid-season in a fury is the best context you could wish for as a protester, so bring it on. It's devastating, but the best thing for everyone. tinoasprilla
Hope he goes too. Doesn't deserve this and neither do the fans or players. I'm actually starting to hope Cardiff or Fulham stay up rather than us. At least they try 3 days to go no closer to a signing it's fucking pathetic. Not like we've had since August........ Wilson
“The way things are going on here, I can say yes or not to the proposals that I receive. I can give some names but I don’t do any negotiations, anything. In the end I can say yes or not so you give me this or that I can choose one or the other one. That’s it. I can say yes if we need that.” That's fuckin disgusting man.

What a fantastic cauldron of ‘fuck you’ to the fat cunt. No signings and Rafa gone - there’ll surely be repurcussions. And it seems as though that cunt Justin Barnes gets a very easy ride indeed. Since he came in it seems like he’s put the blockers in spending anything.
Ketsbaia
As an inspirational figure, it'll be a shame to see Rafa go. On the pitch we'll probably cope because we've not exactly been overachieving - squad is bad but no worse than Huddersfield, Cardiff and Burnley. The only good thing is that it might light a fire under our fanbase, instead of these half-arsed sing-song 'protests'. I see what ultras do on the continent and weep at us in comparison. toon25
Agree with Kets there. Also getting to the point where I just feel sorry for him to be honest. He’s a fucking decent bloke who despite being taken for a ride has continued to maintain high standards and behave with decency. Just look at that he condolence letter he sent a few pages back. Can’t say that I’d have done the same in his position. I’d have packed it in/gone off sick a long time ago. He’s being stopped from doing his job at the end of the day. Whoever is there tomorrow needs to sing this guy’s name for 90 minutes. Fucking legend of a man.

I see what ultras do on the continent and weep at us in comparison. Literally just the other day in Marseille: https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/47007852 I don't know the story but McCourt has been there for a couple of years and overseen 5th place and 4th place finishes, and brought players like Payet into the club. Meanwhile, at NUFC, nearly 12 years of Ashley and 35,000 of our fans are still turning up to watch us get laughed out of town in a competition we've openly admitted we don't want to be in. Pathetic. Scoot
Sounding like Rafa will walk out by the end of the week. In away I'm pleased because i think it'll encourage more people to wrap it all in.

Wullie
16/1 next to go if anyone fancies it. Can't see it myself.
Big Geordie
If he does walk on Feb 1st, expect another constructive dismissal case to go in. Rafa is a dignified and honourable man - but he is working for a regime which is purposefully malevolent. Dark times and it’s not going to get any better. Expect the return of Alllardyce, Pardew or barrow boy - Sherwood.
Ketsbaia
16/1 next to go if anyone fancies it. Can't see it myself. Same tbh. Just think this is Rafa's last attempt at getting his targets - his strongest quotes, out of desperation. Starting to think the best thing for the club is if he did leave this week, rather than the slow 4-month winding down.
AyeDubbleYoo
I can't see him resigning either TBH, he is already braced for how shit our transfers are going to be. He'll probably decide that he may as well finish the season.
