huss9
yeah, he was in it for the money as well, but he loved this club and wanted the best for it. overambitious, but why not? just didnt have the foresight, the planning or the judgement. would either want to spunk the lot, or "keep the powder dry". anyone who didnt like him... howay, if Sir Bobby could forgive , so can you. (Maybe not for appointing Sourness though). RIP.
Incognito
He only ever wanted the best for Newcastle United. Unfortunately he didn't have the knowledge to achieve what we all wanted but unlike what we have now, the football and it's prizes were what his main aim were. RIP Freddy. bulivye
So many thoughts... but i don't trust myself with a comment other than RIP.
Super Duper Branko Strupar
Holy s***. Shocking news. Wanted the best for the club as chairman I'm sure. Questionable as a man. The Shepherd family are notorious for a reason.
Guest firetotheworks
I was surprised, but that's because I didn't realise he was 76. I didn't like him as a chairman or for the things he said about the people of the area, but there was definitely the sense of him wanting to compete even if I did disagree with his methods for doing so. That's a lot more than can be said for a lot of owners.
Hanshithispantz
Fucking hell, that's pretty big. He had an odd relationship with the club to say the least but, looking back, I doubt many of us would have had much of the 90s and early 00s any other way. RIP
toontownman
Polarizing figure. Did lots of good along with lots of bad for the club and will certainly be associated with some of our best times. R.I.P.
Crumpy Gunt
A breath of fresh air as part of the Magpie Group ridding the club of the McKeags etc. From the point of privatisation proceeded to bleed the club dry. The bit in between though.
Away Day Gadgie
I've been a huge critic of his for years but you can't deny the role he played in our recent history. RIP Freddie
SEMTEX
No matter how he went about it, he wanted to do great things for NUFC. RIP.
manorpark
I was surprised, but that's because I didn't realise he was 76. What a shame, to die so young, very unexpected at 76, these days. RIP Freddy, and thanks for being a strong and major part of the "Newcastle United with appropriate ambition" that we enjoyed in the 1990s and early 2000s. Wallsendmag
Thought things started going a bit tits up when SJH took a back seat and Freddie Shepherd became the main man but one thing he was was a supporter who always had the best interests of the club at heart. He also employed a lot of people in the North East as well. RIP
Cookie1892
RIP to the man great ambition but we were going to a Leeds/Portsmouth currently the mackems under him cant ignore our champs league and European games under him though
Sima
RIP. Sometimes let his head rule his heart but was massively ambitious.
Darth Crooks
Wrong owner died. Very sad. Talked and did a lot of shite but then who hasn't and his heart was always in NUFC.

Wallsendmag
Ambitious. Unlike the current owner. RIP. Yep that magnificent 52,000 seat stadium that we sit in every other week is largely down to him. At the time of it's expansion it was the 2nd biggest in the country only behind Old Trafford. One thing you couldn't knock him for was his ambition.

Jimburst
A man who at times i would probably have wished ill upon, but having experienced much worse since, I believe he was just a bit misguided and always wanted the best for the club. Funny how times have changed, eh? RIP. Imagine owning the toon man, he lived the dream.
