He’s probably emboldened by the likes of trump.

The man blurts out words that he thinks will put out the immediate fire - nothing he has ever said stands up to the passage of time. He’s like Trump in that sense: truth has no value, only dealing with the immediate concern.

Absolutely. Self preservation society head member.

Thankfully it’ll be much easier to switch off next season after Rafa.

In fairness it is pretty easy to switch off this season with Rafa. Everyone knows he is leaving, and this season we are just going through the motions. Feels like the most pointless season ever to be following us.

It's total bullshit to suggest that Sports Direct only fill the spaces advertising is not prepared to, the whole place is plastered in the blue and red monstrosity.

It really annoys me when I hear about the interest free loans that Ashley has made to the club and will of course need to be repaid to any future owners.

They will be taken into consideration when agreeing the sale price and would almost certainly be repaid upon the sale. Unless the new owners are incredibly stupid or desperate.

Totally see your point of annoyance and by no means sticking up for him as he is benefiting his brand at the expense of another. However if i held 100% stake in something outright and didn't to answer to anybody I can see the releluctance to pay for it as its all yours. Obviously iam sure it was noted in the last or second to last fans forum minutes that advertising is now paid for? And only showing SD as default when a space cannot be sold. How true that is well it only takes a quick glance of the stadium to see they probably have no brand marketing team to sell the space to anyone else or simply aren't trying to.

I guess alot of empty promises have been made repeatedly over the years I still remember the 3 then 5 year business model for the club. The I cannot bank roll all spending but will put 20 million of my own money in a year. It's all been back peddled on he just needs to go.

Wow...gullible much?

Dunno what you mean? Simply playing devils advocate I don't really get angry anymore about our situation I am not a billionaire I therefore cannot do anything about it.

Very poor analogy but if i owned a sandwich bar and made myself a meal with the shops resources do I put the money in the till or do I think I own the place I would only be paying myself. Poor example which is why I said he looks after his top brand SD first even if it is to the massive detrement to the club.

Never once said I believed any of the propaganda pumped out by the club or its representatives.

Ashley and SD pay fuck all for the advertising space at SJP.  If they do pay,  where is the money going because it's not going on players.

It goes from balance sheet A to balance sheet B, we are saving it for a rainy day, we need to pay back the milk delivery bill you name it the club will come up with anything to account for not spending. If all else fails silence works as a good club back up response.

If he owned a sandwich bar (SD) and took bread from a bakery he owned (NUFC) for free to make his sandwiches, causing the bakery to end up with sub-standard staff and equipment, there's a problem. But as you say, nothing we can do about it other than turn up and pay for sandwiches made of shit Spanish chorizo, and complain non-stop to other customers whilst handing our cash over.

There was some comment in one of the fan forums about SD paying from now -  a likely story.

Taken from the september mins:

Sports  Direct There  is  now  an  agreement  in  place  whereby  Sports  Direct  pays  for  all  advertising  in  the stadium.  Sports  Direct  is  only  allocated  what  the  club  doesn’t  sell  and  that  arrangement  can  be terminated  immediately  by  the  club  if  another  company  is  willing  to  pay  more  on  a  fair commercial  basis.

I guess we need to wait until this years accounts to see if thats true unless clever accounting once again marks how much it is and where its gone. Be interesting to know how much the club think all of the SD advertising is actually worth a season 20million? Or more.

So they admit right there that Sports Direct are not paying a fair amount, as to "pay on a fair commercial basis" you have to pay more than Sports Direct.

Also just because its not illegal to do what he's doing doesn't make it reasonable or right.  I don't care if Ashley thinks its fair because he owns both companies.  Its a disgusting thing to do when you're dealing not just with a normal company but with a sporting institution which has tens of thousands of loyal fans, not customers, fans.

The fucker knows exactly what he's doing and its nothing to do with a reluctance to pay for something he sees as his already.  He's reducing NUFC revenue by funnelling that potential revenue to Sports Direct and then turning that into "debt" that NUFC owe him.

This achieves three things.  It gives him a excuse for claiming the club shouldn't have an ambition for more "we can't compete".  It increases his profits in Sports Direct (so that debt at NUFC isn't money he's lost at all).  It also gives him a excuse for the amount of money he wants to sell the club "I've put X amount of money in".

He loses nothing, yet if he sells the club he gets his money back plus all the imaginary debt, some of which he's already paid himself back from the club revenue he allows to come in.

I dont think iam qualified to say what his intentions were either to begin with or what it turned into. I also feel tainted in the sense that I dont trust as far as i could throw him but looking back now he has as far as iam aware no big links to the area, no real passion for football other than selling football related items in his stores, maybe he was all along looking for an asset to further the SD brand. Maybe it was an impulse buy and the first wrong (of many) decisions stopped him swigging pints in the stands and looking at what Newcastle United can do for him. Maybe he feels a self of power and entitlement and being the pantomime villain gets his rocks off.

Who knows and frankly who cares he just needs to go but that's like telling me to leave after a half a plate in to an all you can eat buffet. How much more can he squeeze out of the club and us before he is done.

Think is...whilst its tacky as fuck...I'd forgive him using us as a vehicle for advertising SD if he invested in the club properly. I've always maintained this stance.

The biggest frustration for me about him being custodian of our club is the fact that he 'could' make us compete, he just chooses to not to, and in turn damages it by neglecting it, running it on a shoestring and then treating it with contempt.  All the while using it to advertise his tat shop.

I hate seeing his face.  I hate seeing his name.  I long for the day I can get my season ticket back and rekindle my love for the club...however until the fucker has gone, I'll not be back or be bothered if we win, lose, draw - I will be ambivalent.  It's an empty shell which leaves me feeling empty.

I wish I could care, but I'm done until such time as he's no longer in charge.  Be that us in League 1 Marra, sold, or into administration.  I'd take anything to get rid of him.

It's January and no one really gives a toss about the transfer rumours thread. I think that says it all about what he's done to this club.

Any fee above 12 million and if i am in a more depressed mood involves money going out I instantly dismiss. Bargin bucket and loans at best for us at the minute.

This is the part I don't get.  How can SD advertise in SJP without creating a taxable event?  Nothing is free when taxes are involved.  If SJP is giving away free advertising for non-charity purposes then that means another company is benefitting from that free advertising and that advertising has a value so that value could be taxed.  If it could be taxed it has to be recorded as income (for SJP).  Granted no money is actually changing hands but...

Does it matter when it's all owned by the same entity? Genuine question; no knowledge whatsoever.

Not sure what mechanism would make it taxable. If a company gives something to a director or employee it’s a benefit, but that doesn’t exist between companies does it?

It’s not like ‘advertising space’ is an asset that will be listed. It’s just income we’ve chosen to not create.

There’s no we about it.. he’s chosen to cripple the club in an era where sponsorship and advertising are at their peak, all to benefit a totally separate entity.

It should be against the rules. It would put cunts like Ashley off doing this in future.

Capatilism and corporate greed at its finest. Asset strip one of your secondary businesses to further your prime interest and asset. It's what Trump has been doing for years
