polkaDot
What's Kenyons history with Rafa? What chance is there of him buying Bolton and offering Rafa a job & a £60 million war chest?
Deuce
We've had some people on record here who are trusted NO posters say they had some first hand knowledge that Kenyon was 100% genuine with his intentions; same with Amanda Staveley's bid, backed up by the local respected journos (both for that matter). My assumption is Kenyon's initial backing/backers only were willing to put up X and it was short of MA's valuation, so he was looking to either up his bid with other investors (and failed) or trying to force Ashley to sell at a lower price (NOW) and offer tiered payments and earn outs if certain significant hurdles were met. Occam’s Razor suggests this is the most likely explanation. Far too much tin foil hattery around all this.

bobbydazzla
Why’s Ashley got such a massive stiffy for Debenhams, willing to step down as CEO of Sports Direct to force himself onto the Debenhams board. I know he’s got 30% of the shares, but it’s a shite department store with very little going for it. Can’t see how he thinks he can turn it around, or what his other agendas may be. ianovthetoon
He wants to make HOF the Harrods of the High Street. No doubt Debenhams will become the Poundland equivalent after he’s begged the landlords to let him rent the shops for next to nowt Guess who wins again! Stifler
Media will once again lap up the talk about him being the saviour of the high street, when in all actual fact he’ll be one the ones killing it off.

Newintoon
Does this mean we get Debenhams billboards around the ground or will Ashley start charging sports direct the proper rates for the advertising
Kanj
his desire to "save" and pour money into these physical retail boxes is so fucking weird. Like it defies any logic.
bhoywhonder
He truly has the reverse Midas touch. Remember him in those jeans man....I would've believed you if you said they were $1500 Gucci jeans or 30 quid from next. He is such a fucking mess everything he touches becomes shit by association. Happinesstan
And yet he somehow manages to get rich selling that shit to ordinary people.
Raconteur
his desire to "save" and pour money into these physical retail boxes is so fucking weird. Like it defies any logic. Can only hope some of these colossal gambles finally loses - draining him of cash and forcing him to sell at a cut-price. It's probably the best chance of him leaving anytime soon. Happinesstan
He's probably ahead of the curve. He knows poverty is on the increase, people soon won't be able to keep up the payments on their internet, and will be driven onto the streets to make their purchases. He'll drive the landlords away and fill every inch with shit for a 90%discount, which the people will have no choice but to accept. Soon we'll be comparing shit sandwiches, for real, on facebook. Happinesstan
Was it Keegan who said "Well I say why not"? It fucking was wasn't it? I remember him saying it. I always assume it was some French philosopher, or JFK, or something, whenever I use it. God I love that boke.

I hate Ashley as much as the next person but... what on earth are you on about? ? Almost every sentence you wrote defies every law of economics and upends the last 120+ years of history. Poverty is at a record low and is only going to get lower, technology has always, always made things cheaper: Adam Smith settled this debate ages ago, and has only been proved right every decade since. We can all hate Ashley without claiming the rapture is coming ?
