Holloway Posted yesterday at 18:39 Share Posted yesterday at 18:39 We could do without any rift patter resurfacing while we're in this exciting spell, like
alexf Posted yesterday at 18:48 Share Posted yesterday at 18:48 It was the "that would be my wish" at the end after being asked if he could stay and get a new contract that concerned me. Just no need to say that or put that out there if you know he's leaving. All that is gonna do is let everyone know that Mitchell has sanctioned a sale against Howe's wishes. We don't need any of that bullshit again. They need to keep any disagreements behind closed doors.

Unbelievable Posted yesterday at 19:03 Share Posted yesterday at 19:03 Much as I love Eddie and rate Dubravka, surely he can see the bigger picture here? Any money we can get for a 35 year old whose contract expires in 5 months is great money, especially in these FFP times. Just last week he also said in a presser he would respect the player’s wishes, so if Dubs has agreed to go there as reported, it’s odd that he’s being so akward about it. More concerningly, just how bad must Vlachomidos be in training..?
Lush Vlad Posted yesterday at 19:05 Share Posted yesterday at 19:05 People should stop reading into Howe’s comments in the media regarding players, injuries, lineups, transfers etc. Remember when Barnes was doing his medical and he denied knowing anything about the deal being close or complete?! He’d be a great poker player

54 Posted yesterday at 19:12 Share Posted yesterday at 19:12 Literally any manager is going to come out and say "I'd love to keep him" like, unless they're kicking up a fuss or something. Its just the right thing to do as you don't burn any bridges. Imagine if the deal falls apart, and he stays with Howe having said "Yeah we have a lot of keepers, and its good to get him off the books". He'd feel pretty low about himself and not wanted. Its just good management to try and keep him happy even in departure.
andycap Posted yesterday at 19:13 Share Posted yesterday at 19:13 It comes off like a power play by howe. If he hadn't of had such a good month with results would he of said it? I don't think he would've.

A little birdie told me that while the players were still celebrating Mitchell pulled Eddie in to a side room at the Emirates and socked him right in the stomach to 'send a message'. Eddie called Mandy but she said she can't do anything and go speak to Yasir about it. Yasir just got him in a headlock, laughed and said 'nah not Paul, he's a good lad. Just play nice'. Then gave him a noogie and a smack on the back side.
andycap Posted yesterday at 19:14 Share Posted yesterday at 19:14 It's fine saying I want to keep him it's not okay saying shit like you'll have to ask Paul.

I have no need to imagine this. I just posted what he said about it. Just found it slightly odd regarding how he said it. It wasn’t the usual Howe poker. Because he said GENUINELY in such an honest way so I think he actually doesn’t know anything regarding it. Doesn’t mean much, but he sounded differently about it a week or so ago. Palestoon Posted yesterday at 19:26 Share Posted yesterday at 19:26 Wouldn't read too much into it, this is exactly how Howe addressed players leaving before Mitchell ever arrived. Think it's more for squad harmony. That the manager appreciates every player and isn't trying to shift them behind their backs. It's just good man management. Even if behind closed doors I'm sure he's aware of what's happening and why and has input.

We all know EH says he wants to keep every player. Don’t see how anyone could think there is a rift unless of course they aren’t very bright. In an “ideal” world we would want to keep him. Don’t think you’ll find many arguing otherwise with Pope being injured and Dubs showing his worth. However I think you’ll struggle to find anyone who thinks Dubs is our medium to long term answer to our GK position. EH will have been in game mode all day minimum so wouldn’t have likely been getting any updates about a player he’s selected to play and motivate that night. He’ll speak to PM and hear what the strategy is with regards latest off for him and how long in the window do we have before we’d need to sell him to get that deal and what we’ve got to gain from selling him later in the window as opposed to letting him run his contract out or even renew it. He’ll also want to show some respect to the player if likely it’s his last game and let him bask in a little love that he received at the end. Hardly going to say we’ve done a deal to let him go or get into specifics as if we’ve move on in a somewhat cold fashion. Until the deal is complete EH will do everything for a player to feel loved and wanted. Thats what makes him so good. Eddie is smart though so he could have worded it differently if he actually knew about it. Even Eddie wouldn’t answer a question saying he “genuinely” doesn’t know about it. Eddie wouldn’t use those words if he was playing tricks. I reckon he didn’t know at the time how advanced it might be therefore his reply. I assume he’s been 100% focused on the game(s). Kanj Posted yesterday at 19:56 Share Posted yesterday at 19:56 Eddie has orchestrated 7 wins in a row, and people still have to try and give him a slight dig about speaking about wanting to maybe keep Dubz in the face of PSR reasons.

Joelinton7 Posted yesterday at 21:43 Share Posted yesterday at 21:43 (edited) We’re selling our current number 1 who is in extremely good form in mid Jan. Our usual number 1 is currently not fit, and Eddie has already expressed he doesn’t want MD to go. Mitchell better be cooking something good ‘cause I don’t like this at all. Pope is allegedly back in 10 days and we have 3 other keepers on our books. Don't expect miracles just because we manage to sell Dubs for a nominal fee 6 months prior to his contract expires.
