Newcastle United v Southampton - 10/03/18 - 3pm

Sign of the times when so many people are seemingly happy with a draw at home to a team fighting us for relegation.

Southampton seem to be draw specialists away though to be fair. They've got 1 win in their last 10 PL games, and have won 2 times away all season.

Then again, our home record is bloody awful.

I wouldn't be happy, just satisfied. I think our wins will come against Arsenal, Huddersfield, and West Brom.

Yeah, I don't think a draw is a disaster here - given the fixtures the teams below us have a point should have us 3 ahead of the relegation zone with a much better goal difference - effectively 2 positive results clear with only 8 games left.

I agree with KI, though it wouldn't be ideal, it would still put us in pole position to survive, especially if both Stoke and Palace lose (which given their fixtures you'd expect). Obviously a win is more ideal and should be the aim.

4 points from the next two will set us up for sruvival. Must not lose rather than must win imo.

Wow. This isn't must win?

Well, no.

A must win game is a game that you must win. This isn’t one of them.

A draw would keep Southampton behind us, with one less game for them to catch us. This is also probably one of their games that they are targetting a win, so it’d be a huge blow to them.

Of course I and everyone else (Rafa and the team included) will be hoping/expecting to win this. But it’s clearly not the end of the world if we drew.

Certainly need to beat either Southampton or Huddersfield, both tough in their own way. Southampton are underachieving but drawing a lot, they're not that bad. Huddersfield enjoy beating us, the hard-working bastards.
