Signing McGeady on for another year is huge for them. He may be 36 next year, but that league is still so bad, that he plays like Messi in it.

This will be his 4th season playing like Messi in it.

He signed on? Agreed that he is important. I would have thought losing him would absolutely break them. Him staying, albeit with more shitty players around him, may  make them just relevant still in that league.

Not Messi level but maybe Shola against the mackems level.

Well, Messi was an obvious exaggeration by me, but having missed 15 games he still finished as the league’ top assit provider last year.

If he stays fit and isn’t frozen out of the team again; he could be the difference between either making the play offs or not. Maybe more depending on what or players they do end up signing. I was hoping he wouldn’t sign.

Thousands of us us when we played Roma in a competition they have never been good enough to be in.

Shows where they are when they’re clinging on to two ex-players who had to leave to fulfill their potential. If Sunderland drew Lazio or Roma in the Europa Conference even one day I’d give them that if we were in the doldrums but not when they’re closer to Hartlepool in the league ladder than Newcastle.
