I know Longstaff is marmite with our fans but whilst his ability may be limited you can never knock his effort and he’s clearly tried his hardest to make the most of what he’s got. He’s clearly never been a pick of bother whilst he’s been here and given us some moments that any NUFC fan could dream of. (PSG, Southampton in the semis). As I don’t particularly rate him. But even then, you look at what other players have gone for. £12m does seem low. Especially when you factor in the amount of minutes he has had at this level, recently playing regularly for a team that finished 4th and 7th, CL games, PL goals etc. I also feel like we have outgrown him. To the point where recently, he seems to have fallen behind Miley and Willock in the pecking order and is now 6th choice CM. Albeit that is based on a very small sample size. Not to say his skillset wouldn’t be of more use elsewhere. I think he’d be a great fit for how Everton play. But I can already hear the Everton seagulls booing. If people think our fans are toxic at times towards him.
