Fabian Schär - signs a one year contract extension on reduced terms (Official)

I’m sure it’ll be something brutal, based on how bad it looked.

But I couldn’t walk off the pitch with a badly sprained ankle. But walked off on my own when I did my ACL and LCL.

Fingers crossed he’s not ruptured any ligaments.

Whatever happens, give him a contract extension, no-one is more deserving.  Handsome as an adonis and brave as a lion.

Even if he can't play, front and centre of all marketing materials is a no brainer :smitten:

I dunno. Having had issues with ankles for years I think they can sometimes be more complicated than a straight leg break sometimes. But not an expert.

Had the same but I'm assuming the level of analysis and treatment available to a pro footballer should be able to sort it.

Like, I badly damaged my ankle, walked back to work, worked all day and let it heal for several weeks before seeking treatment, I'm assuming Fabian will be told not to do that

Back before the end of the season, according to Wor Eddie.

See you in a year then, Fab.

I look forward to the retirement tour, hopefully a couple screamers to round off his time here

I'm fairly sure that ligament injuries take longer to heal than a broken ankle.

If he's back before the end of April I'll be surprised.

Often a broken ankle also has associated ligament damage so it is hard to judge.

From my very limited experience though, ligament damage around the ankle can be anything from a couple of weeks for something small like a minor twist up to several months for ruptures.  That said none of the injuries that me or my (very amateur) football friends suffered were dealt with and treated by highly skilled specialists, we were just told to use ice packs and rest.

Neither of you are god-like figures like Fabian is though. He'll have some special powers nobody else has.

Took me a year for my worst one, but as I said it wasn't managed well.

I tore my ankle ligaments on my 21st birthday, going down the cobbled bank to the quayside after a mate jumped on my back and I tried to balance. BHM, been out since 12, happenws stroud. 9. Full of substances, stated out till 3. Woke up the next day and was on crutches for 3 months.

Happy days.

I would assume it's fairly rare for an athlete to get just a bone break without other damage. Unless it's something freaky like they drop something on their leg at home etc.
