Miguel Almirón (now playing for Atlanta United)

Recommended Posts

No revisionism from me. I always liked his character and personality and thought he would function well as a hard worker, pressing from the front, but ultimately too one-footed and erratic to really succeed.

What did I know? A bit of proper coaching and confidence and, although he'll always be a bit one-footed, he's been outstanding and developed a brilliant relationship with Bruno and others. Love the lad, huge part of what we're doing this season.

Trippier is a massive help to him on that right side.

Miggy has been alot less wasteful now he always has the safety option of Trippier either on the overlap or behind him.

It's a great partnership on that side.

Read something recently saying that Trippier absolutely loves playing with him on that side, because he in turn helps Trippier out so much defensively.

They both benefit greatly from each other.

Almiron cutting in must be a dream for Trippier. Bags of space to run down the right and more often that not Miggy will give him it. Could see from the two goals in Benfica where Almiron scored two from Trippier assists that we were on to something.

Ironic thing is if he had a right-foot he'd probably only have 2 or 3 goals.

No way does he take on that Fulham goal first time if he had faith in his right, and today he probably shoots with his right and has it saved.
