Conjo
Ashley will just use that as an argument to squeeze out £56m more on their bid after they have met his initial "asking price", hypothetically speaking if any of it was true and a bid actually materialised. TBG
Ashley will just use that as an argument to squeeze out £56m more on their bid after they have met his initial "asking price", hypothetically speaking if any of it was true and a bid actually materialised. Telegraph mentions it may take up to a month for the Premier League to complete it's checks. So fully expecting The Chronicle to run with Ashley is so desperate to sell, but he can't wait that long. Things were definitely different this time but the Premier Leagues slow response scuppered the deal. Poor Ashley, he just cant get a break.

Pilko
It would be peak Ashley to finally allow the takeover to happen but at a time when we can't go out to celebrate it.

Disco
Not worth considering until we’ve heard from a dentist or Programme Pete. Top lad is Pete, loves the club.

Ankles Bennett
If this goes ahead I imagine the Saudis will want a bigger ground. The Reubens own Newcastle Racecourse so could see a new ground being built in Gosforth Park.

The Reubens own Newcastle Racecourse so could see a new ground being built in Gosforth Park. You aren’t getting planning permission for a stadium at the racecourse. They built some houses on the site recently, and it had major objections and was only just allowed. At the other side of the racecourse North Tyneside council had trouble getting a housing estate through.
hakka
Every time these stories circulate I would normally get a naive text from some non-NUFC fans friends saying "Ooh look! you might be rid of Ashley soon!" - even those people have given up messaging me that now. They are starting to see it's total nonsense.

Hypothetically if we were ever in a position where new owners wanted to invest. We’d have to move for a season or two and have a new stadium built. Perhaps having the pitch at a different position so as to not interfere with the existing surrounding buildings.

Bizza
Why the fuck would anyone be buying a football club amid a pandemic and with no idea when or if things will get back to normal so games can resume?

Shays Given Tim Flowers
Why the fuck would anyone be buying a football club amid a pandemic and with no idea when or if things will get back to normal so games can resume? Because the uncertainty may lead to a better price, or, if you're Ashley given his fondness for picking off the bones it might not be the worst time to have some liquidity. In the short term sure, but when there is Premier Leauge Football next season is the club going to be worth drastically less than it was at this time in January? You think all football related incomes are going to go back to normal? There's no chance, the value of TV deals are going to collapse at somepoint because of this economic depression we are going encounter.

Sky/BT subs may become untenable, but it's clear Amazon has designs on offering consolidated rights packages and I would wager that these will be more profitable for the PL and cheaper for consumers.
