Rafalove
Think Mcclarens problem was he didn’t quite have the respect of the players. There was a story about wanting the team to go for a walk on the way back from an away game, and no one listened.
Guest
He also seemed to have an idea of what he wanted, he was just s*** at it. I remember being pretty optimistic after we drew 2-2 with a good Southampton team because of the football we played. With hindsight, a midfield pair of Wijnaldum & Sissoko with Perez & Thauvin either side of Mitrovic could have been effective rather than Anita & Jack f***ing Colback until Shelvey arrived. Yeah, we were passing it around and it was clear he wanted to play that way. We also had some decent results and performances under him early on- the 6-2 win over Norwich being one, 2-0 win over Liverpool, beating Chelsea etc. It went to shit after Christmas though It looked like we might have a chance when he signed Shelvey & Townsend. Shelvey’s diagonal balls to Janmaat on the overlap with Gini arriving into the box looked canny a few games but he wasn’t good enough. Still wonder where we’d have been now had Benitez managed to keep us up. I still think we’d have sold Sissoko & Wijnaldum but £60m or so to spend on some Premier League players rather than a Championship rebuild, and who knows. Happinesstan
that's what i mean. the more he opens his mouth, the more of an idiot he makes of himself. unfortunately the vast majority of the media/journalists (other than Hope and Gibbo) seem to be unable or unwilling to pick him up on it. Bruce's limitations are not part of any narrative that promotes the PL. He's a PL winner that went on to have a successful career as a PL manager, taking control of over 400 [who checks?] PL games. There was a story about wanting the team to go for a walk on the way back from an away game, and no one listened. It’s true (the no respect from the players). They were on their way to an away game early on, they stopped off at a services and told the players to stretch their legs etc. none of them left the coach Sissoko was a big character in the dressing room and he had no respect for him. Sissoko’s performance in his final game was embarrassing, never seen someone give so little effort before.
Guest
You could see from the Spurs documentary how big Sissoko is within the group so that’s not surprising. He’s almost like the glue between the foreign players and English players.
Rafalove
Anyway it seems like people are now turning against Bruce. Be interesting to seehow nasty it might get for him
Guest
He’s lucky there’s no fans in the grounds. Think even the fairly passive nature of the majority who still attended would be turning on him now.
RS
“The most worrying statistic is the number of shots Newcastle are allowing on their goal, which could suggest a problem with the midfield balance. Newcastle United currently allowing shots at a rate of 17.2, after Saturday's defeat to Manchester United. The last Premier League team to surpass that over a season was Sunderland in 2016/17, who were relegated as the division's bottom club and conceded 69 goals in the process, an average of almost two per match.” Chron

Newintoon
28 shots at our goal at home, on average a shot every 3 and a half minutes, against a struggling team that had 4-5 of their first team out or on the bench, that’s truly appalling

Menace
Relegation is definitely on the cards if this oaf stays in charge. It might not be this year, but it will definitely happen. Each passing game we look worse and worse. The "hard to break down" team that we had is a distant memory. A team that can't defend and can't score, how long will he fluke it for? It's incredible that the Bruce boys are not resorting to "look at where we are in the table" Better managers have been hung out to dry for far less than this oaf. STM
Paid the £15 to watch it. ^ It's part of their job to watch the game and comment on them. They might not want to risk watching the game on a stream.

Guest neesy111
Does he go to all home and away games then, as he would need to stream for non-TV games he doesn't attend (pre covid).
Robster
He could have hit a hell of an audience by stating that he wasn't prepared to pay it and instead donated to the Food Bank.
BlueStar
In terms of this work in progress, does anyone even have a clear idea of what he's working towards? What's the actual Bruce style of play that we're yet to see, this land of milk and honey which is forever out of sight, just over the horizon, for various reasons? What would we be watching if it wasn't for... Actually what is the excuse for why we're so massively far away from realising his true vision? That's cayusing us to instead be stuck in this horrific limbo of allowing huge amounts of shots for the opposition and not having any at all ourselves because we are equally woful in both defense and attack? Guest
He says he wants to play front foot football, but then says by doing though, we’re suspect to conceding 3 in the last 5 minutes of the game and giving away a ridiculous number of shots. Mikky
Bruce’s tactics now make sense - it’s the Mohammed Ali’s version of “Rope a goal” - tire out the opposing attachers - worked a treat against the likes of Son etc
