LFEE
Teams are definitely try to bully him a lot more. Needs to move ball on quicker at times as he’s not going to win every physical dual like he thinks he can. Being subbed HT won’t do him any harm. EH is far more ruthless than given credit for. Just trust him.

andyc35i
It’s strange to me that he gets called out again for a 45 minutes where he was the best of the 3 midfielders out there… It was right to take him off, but it’s mad how everyone ignores the good tackles, the tracking back, the forward runs and the positivity to try and progress the ball. I wouldn't dwell on it too much. As we aim higher season on season, the standards will go up. We have to remember, this is still really a forward playing as a midfielder now, so there will be some things which won't come naturally in a packed midfield area. Sometimes he looks a bit loose in possession, but at other times he's capable of some real finesse in there as well, like that turn and pass for the Isak goal against Spurs. Not that I wanted him sold, or don't appreciate him - far from it - but logically once Longstaff is gone the next CM to be looking at improving upon would be him or Willock - and Willock is looking better with every minute he doesn't play... Kid Icarus
Like most players, he's a tool with a few applications. I would say that in the majority of games we play, he should be very good, but in matches like today where the opposition are okay with us playing a possession game and then are very good at breaking and pressing, that's when he's at his weakest and you maybe need him to play in a different role as a destroyer with players who are better in possession maybe? Or not play at all. Edited September 15, 2024 by Kid Icarus

alexf
4 hours ago, KaKa said: Loved him getting dragged off at half time. He's getting a bit too into playing the heel. Needs to focus more on what he's doing on the pitch and stop going back and forth with the ref and opposition all the time. It's affecting his performances. Actually started well today before getting wound up and then failing to pieces. Yeah thought he was covering well defensively early doors. Maybe cus Bruno was abit off it physically today and he needed to. But yeah you can see the difference Willock makes to the side when he plays instead. I think Joelinton would be better served as a later substitute if we need to see out a game and just need him to be a destroyer breaking up play and doubling up on the wings etc that we know he's so good at. Obviously that all depends on Willock staying fit.
timnufc22
Wish he’d stop clumsily barging into players then crying to the ref after a fouls given. He’s always lacked that finesse at times and has been pushed onto a pedestal of seemingly undroppable. His resurgence has been great and he’s a good player to have but he is limited and should be shown he has to fight for his starting place.
Groundhog63
Weirdly enough, just when Sean Longstaff has probably reached the point where Sandro Tonali steps in, the "fans" turn on someone else.
Erikse
I think the problem, as someone else pointed out, is that him and Longstaff together means that we lack creativity in the midfield. Both Tonali and Willock are far ahead on that part. Feels like some of our attacking play is poor when he's playing alongside Longstaff. I know we used to score lots of goals with both of them starting in midfield (without Willock), but I also think that was largely due to players like Trippier, Isak and Gordon being so inform at the time. Conjo
If not for him we would have had 8 points so far this season. Vital to the way play without the ball too. One of the first names on the team sheet for me. Edit: 6 points actually, not 8. Edited September 16, 2024 by Conjo
Astroblack
I thought he played well today. He does take an extra second in decision making but I can understand that given the positional change. I dunno, I just can’t hate the guy, I even thought his yellow card tackle was justified as he was showing a bit of fight and aggression.
