Joelinton: will not play against Everton (Howe)

Recommended Posts

Really poor for Brazil today I thought… at fault for the goal they conceded after dawdling on the ball just outside the box, and generally just looked very sluggish.

Not sure if hungover, literally or figuratively, from Sunday? Or maybe just a bit at sea in Brazil’s tactical setup (they had him playing centrally in a double pivot which I don’t think we’ve ever seen for NUFC)?

Feel bad for him though, I’m sure he’ll be catching abuse from fans back home and hate to see anything knock him down off his perch as all-conquering colossus of the universe.

Got sent off last time he played the Argies.

Well maybe the reason he is looking like timid Joe. Not making any tackles and just sitting of the Argentina midfield. Touched the ball about ten times and mostly just made 10 yard passes. Surely this has to be the manager's tactics, as that is not his game at all. The Brazil manager has got to be under pressure, as I can't remember a worse Brazilian team than this one over the last two years.

Aye they’ve absolutely been honking. All over the place at the back. They’ll end up getting a man sent off n all if Argentina keep prodding at them n all.

Battering and a half there for Brazil. Good job this World Cup has so many teams in as historically they’d be looking over their shoulders. Instead they’ve got quite a big cushion just to Venezuela in the 7th place intercontinental playoff spot.

Love Joe, but a midfield three of him, Cunha and Andre is so laughably average,

Might well as been Peter Andre playing…

He'll struggle to get recalled again after last night, surely. As mediocre the rest were, Joe seems to struggle every time he gets an opportunity.

The problem players like Joelinton and Murillo will have is that they never had proper gametime in Brazil so the Brazilian people assume they are frauds.

FFS, I see them saying Andre is a better player than big Joe, he's been rubbish for Wolves but he built a reputation with Fluminense.

Brazil's manager is an idiot too, playing Joe in a pivot ffs.

Think he's at his best specifically how we play him, higher up the pitch and not involved in build up, combative and disruptive, a target man for long balls and able to rotate/support the LW, and able to use his athleticism to join the back 4 when needed

Don't see him being able to 'run the midfield' like Brazil probably wanted him to by seeing the line up
