A good sensible decision, much better to miss the last four games and do it more harm and miss six months of next season.

Willock will raise his game I'm sure of it. Him and Miley will both help get us over the line and into the Champions League.

Eddie’s comments on Little Joe after the Ipswich game:

"It was a tough decision but I think Joelinton has played on the left for us," the Newcastle United head coach said. "Joe Willock is a natural player that wants to play on the left, although he's right footed, very similar to Joelinton.

"So we tried to keep the rhythm of the team rather than bring someone who maybe prefers to play on the right like Lewis. So that was behind my thinking.

"Joe's an outstanding player, in his own right, he's done some really good things for us this season. I think he'll benefit from the game today. He's got a big part to play in our last four games."

Time to shine Little Joe.

So is it a case of resting and us hoping again he doesn’t need surgery? Then come July/August in pre season, he needs surgery and is out for say 4 months.

If it’s a niggle I hope he just goes under the knife like Sven did recently and gets sorted for pre season.

Good think is this is one area where we have good depth, happy with Miley or Willock to start.

Depth in terms of numbers we do. In terms of quality we don’t.

Probably means  5 at the back is on the cards at some point.

If we get wins in the next 2, I’d be happy with that as we’d just be consolidating our top 5 place in those last two.

The disrespect shown here to our very own Sean Longstaff is staggering. If he was called Longstafferini we'd be calling for his immediate inclusion.

Probably not mind, he's a bit shit really. 😆

If you read the article it refers to "doubts" for his form not injury related.

TBF I don't/can't read the full articles because of those daft adverts that take up 95% of the screen, if I had my choice though its Miley all day for me

"Newcastle United are continuing to assess Joelinton on a day-to-day basis with club insiders not writing off his season just yet.

The £40million man missed the 3-0 win over Ipswich Town last weekend and has not trained since. The 28-year-old will be sidelined for the trip to Brighton & Hove Albion, but a return before the end of the campaign has not been ruled out.

No risks will be taken on Joelinton, and should Newcastle bag their Champions League place early, he could be rested with Eddie Howe knowing he has plenty of back-up in midfield. However, by the same token if he is deemed fit enough and Newcastle need him in a potentially crunch late season game, he could come back into consideration."

When we played arsenal away howe went with a five at the back because joelinton was out and his bench options aren't good enough defensively.

I think howe might do the same in the two away fixtures.

And use Willock in the two at home switching back to our familiar 4-3-3.

Read that as he'll sit out Brighton. Then we'll assess where we are against Chelsea. If possible, I think he needs to play against Chelsea regardless.
