Kanj
I really hope he starts Carroll or Gayle in the next few games just to put to rest that they’d do any better. That’s not really the point. He bloody can’t hit a strike on goal, he can’t create space for himself, every shot is over or blocked. We need him to be better and rise up to the challenge. But who cares I guess. This club is rotten.
ToonArmy1892
Absolutely no support or service, Bruce using him all wrong unsurprisingly. "Big Joe" ffs.
Kanj
True too. He’s being used horribly, not set up for success, no support, mostly isolated. And then you add in his already low confidence. Bloody horrendous
Zero
I never doubt his quality. I think it’s pretty obvious. But I am now very concerned about his mentality that he seems already fed up with Bruce and the rest of the team and thus didn’t perform 100%. Guest
The moment in the first half when he broke and there was literally no support with him for 40 yards summed it up.

jackyboy
Feel sorry for the lad and can't tell how good he is/or not. He battles away on his own and rarely do any of our players get within 20 yards of him. That time on the first half when he was trying to bustle his way through and eveyrone just stands and watches. Compare this to how close Rondon and Perez played and knitted together. Can't blame the manager though 'cause he's one of us
joeyt
All three big money strikers from central Europe - Haller, Wesley and Joelinton - seem to be really struggling. I thought Wesley was terrible last night
Newcastle Fan
Awful again yesterday, to be fair to him it's hard to play as a striker when your starting position is your own half, but one certain plays he could've done much better than he did he is a 40m striker after all. Nobody
All three big money strikers from central Europe - Haller, Wesley and Joelinton - seem to be really struggling. I thought Wesley was terrible last night Kean as well.
Kanj
I haven’t seen enough to comment on him, but I’d be surprised if he’s as bad as he looks atm. Does good work literally everywhere on the pitch but the box. Shots blocked, or skied over. When he actually does have a go.
Stottie
It may just be confidence, but his whole body shape looks wrong when he is shooting. Our system, with few chances and him mostly isolated, is not designed to let him develop confidence either. The main thing though is the folly in not just signing Rondon, someone proven to work. huss9
there's got to be a public inquiry into this transfer.
TRon
there's got to be a public inquiry into this transfer. Yes, no doubt our local press boys will be leading the demand for an inquiry.
Conjo
Doesn't matter who's up top the way the team is set up. When the ball is hoofed up to the striker the central midfield is usually right outside our own box. The wingers are a bit further up, but almost hugging the touch line. The striker will have 3 or more opposition players to fend off. We'd need a striker that possesses the strength and hold up play of Shearer combined with the dribling of Messi and pace of Vardy to make it work. Kanj
He doesn’t strike a ball with any conviction or proper technique in any match I’ve seen bar Spurs. He’s leaning back in probably every single shot. There’s no determination from his body language that he’s got a hunger to score or smack it on frame either. Shot of confidence. Yorkie
Aye, that goal is a total aberration so far. Miracle that Spurs afforded him so much time on the ball.
geordiedean
I'll be amazed if he scores 4 goals all season. 40m fucking striker FFS absolute embarrassment

Disco
there's got to be a public inquiry into this transfer. Douglas was taking the piss out of people last night on Twitter for suggesting the transfer is bent as fuck.
Decky
I like him but we need him scoring or he has to be dropped because 1 goal up front this season is woeful. We'll be lucky to get £5m for him in a year or two if he doesn't change his scoring record and soon.
Happinesstan
I like him and wish him no ill-fortune. But i'm delighting in watching Ashley's £40m investment turn to shit.
KaKa
He was left isolated again. ASM and Almirón play too wide to support him. He needs support from more central positions. Shelvey just lumping the ball forward for him won’t do much when he has 2 CB’s and a CDM around him. He actually came to collect the ball from deep a few times, especially in the 2nd half. He does have that about him, but still lacks the support he needs afterwards. His shot in the first half summed up how the lack of support does not help him. He held the ball up for ages, managed to get past 3 defenders, and still had no one helping him. Such an important point you made here. It's why he's so much more islolated than Rondon was in the same setup. Under Rafa the width came from the wingbacks, while the Perez and Almiron played more as supporting attacking midfielders, as they were more tucked in. Someone tell that muppet Bruce please.
