Guess Joelinton has been reading the council's Strategic Housing and Employment Land Availability Assessment and has spotted something the Saudis haven't.

The problem is we are allowed to spend on stuff which makes no difference on the pitch, but not on the squad which could launch us into the stratosphere. That itself is a contradiction.

Everything counts on the pitch. It also literally counts in attracting players. Something we have been noticeably worse at since Staveley left.

My fear with the recent hires is that they would just end up as a new suit walking around. Not enough power and influence on PIF. These new set of quotes from Eddie and Joelinton don’t help that fear.

Looks like the old Joe today - win ball - pass forward straight away - makes such a difference

Looks fit as well, hopefully Eddie rotates him a bit to keep him fresh as his physicality is such an important part of his game. When he plays well he does the dirty work that allows others to shine.

Brilliant, the same as Burnley. Only really Miley and Bruno stopping him get my MOTM again.

He was much better on the ball and was arguably our best midfielder in possession first half. He is always the out ball from the back or the keeper. Same when we’re trying to work it down the line from a throw or around a press.

He still makes that run in behind off the left, as well. We all know how good he is off the ball, too. Closing down and winning headers from set pieces.

Did get caught having too many touches late on and not releasing it sooner. But I think he was tidy as fuck otherwise.

Such a hybrid and a unique player.

Really good today, mopping up all over the pitch and recycling possession well. A towering presence at corners too. Well done Joe.

If Miley was MOTM then Joelinton wasn't far behind. So strong on the ball, really held us together.

Thought he was excellent today. Not only strong but made some good runs and was pretty nifty in possession. He was involved in Wissa's early chance and he took his own offside goal brilliantly.

The big lad was unreal today.  Glad to see him back to his best.  His take and finish that was ruled out... Wow.

Should have stood tbh, 5cm rule and all that.

Thought he was top drawer today, did all the right things in midfield and looked sharp.

He was very good today. The opposition were crapping themselves. That's the Joelinton we need, controlled aggression.

Said it in another thread - this is almost as much Big Joe’s side as it is Bruno G. Like the system only really works with a fit and firing Joelinton.  When he’s not on point or someone else plays it doesn’t function properly.

Today he was all action.

One thing I would like to see is other players attempt the Schar long ball through to Joelinton making a curved run.  Only those 2 lads attempt it.
