Coronavirus in football

If anyone is daft enough to pay £15 to watch 2 s**** teams in an empty stadium with fake crowd noise then more fool them really.

A lot are happy to pay £10 for exactly that in a crap League Cup game.

Aye but at least they're attending the match in person for their tenner. For a huge % of the fanbase the actual match itself isn't a huge priority and plays second fiddle to having a few pints, meeting mates or simply just getting out the house.

He's talking about the Carabao streams this season.

Did many people actually buy them? Aside from that around 35k people have already paid to watch this match in the form of buying a season ticket!

The league were hiding tweets that mentioned our 'independent investigation' petition, the irony that they come out to support one that benefits them. Extortionate price, the EFL lot pay £10 for their iFollow service too, but that's modern football. Cares about the money, not about the fan.

Who would this £15 per game go to, is it the home club or a central PL pot ? If it’s a central pot what happens to the money, does it just get distributed evenly across all 20 clubs ?

As per the fans are being expected to cough up, very dangerous times for the PL seems massively misjudged. On the plus side it couldn’t happen at a better time under Hoffman’s and Master’s watch.

Maybe if the mugs hadn't kept the gravy train going for the past 30 years their expectations would be different.

If they’d went in with £5 a match I think that’d have been fair enough (on top of the matches they screen as part of their package). £15 is a joke.

Not sure if it's been said, but we could be screwed over by this. We're a unique club in that we're like a bottom 6 club and offer very little appeal to the neutral - we'll be branded in the Burnley, Stoke, type comments, but we're nearer a top 6 club in terms of fanbase, hence we have been had the 7th most televised matches the past 2 seasons behind the obvious (and above Everton). So Sky/BT can kind of kill two birds with one stone - keep more of our games off normal subs, and put more of them on PPV as more Newcastle fans will probably be likely to purchase than other relegation fighters.

Newcastle vs Man Utd will have been televised about 90% of the time in the PL era, but sure enough, it's suddenly not one of the 5 picks next weekend, but we can still watch it...
