Do we all agree he is the best striker we’ve had since Shearer?

Ba was up there, actually took a pretty mean set piece as well. Maybe had a bit more of an all round game as he could drift out wide better, but as a pure out and out striker, Wilson is better IMO. Some of the goals he scores are just pure instinct, he's a phenomenal finisher. When he's through one on one like yesterday, you'd be genuinely shocked if he missed. He ran nearly half the pitch before putting it away as well, not that easy to do.

Like 10 minutes later when he broke through again and shot it into the keepers arms one on one. Was convinced he would score there.

It was clear from day one he was a different class and something we had lacked for an absolute age. That he is close to 20 goals is insane. Mainly that it's been so long having a player that could do that and a team that can help him. Having at least one if not two 20+ goal scorers in the squad is going to be a necessity.

Proper chuffed for him though. He has had an up and down year and a bit but is still showing his class.

Funnily enough he has exactly the same date of birth as me, so yes, can confirm.

Piss taking aside, I would guess he is somewhere between 10-15 years older than his alleged 38 (lol).

elite mentality, what a story his career has been and he’s 1 point away from playing champions league football for the first time.

Would be fitting for him to score to seal it tomorrow and maybe get to 20 on the season, he's been brilliant bar that weird dip post WC.

Definitely shades of 11/12 Ba & Cisse with Isak and Wilson, like. Isak is excellent out there but the goals dried up, while Wilson banged them in for fun.

Will be harsh on Wilson but I hope Isak moves back through the middle at the start of the season with a new world-class left sided player.

Don't want to be churlish but have a feeling we'd have done better with Isak and ASM from the start tonight, with Wilson sliding on at 60 mins.

4 games of Isak and Wilson together in the starting Xl and 1 goal from open play between them. It really doesn’t work starting them both, namely because one of them can’t come off the bench.

We need to build them team around Isak centrally. Callum will get plenty of game time next season but he absolutely cannot be the main man.

It works with Isak behind Wilson in the right circumstances. Howe loves having options and versatility, but I agree that the standard set up should be one or the other.

Isak and ASM have looked pretty tasty in the times they've been put together on the team, you just get the feeling Isak is the type of striker Maxi just loves to work with.

Seems to be the forgotten man on the forum but noticed he is closing in on Newcastle's 2nd top Premiership goal scorer (5 to beat the mighty Shola!).

It amazing that only Shearer has got over 50?

Would be great to see him do it this year as have a feeling it will be his last year here.

With peace and love, the day Ameobi is wiped off the top 5 PL goal scorers for us will be a good day.

Next on the list of our active players are Almiron with 20 and Joelinton with 16. Don't think Almiron will be here long enough to get past him, but hope Joelinton can at least keep up the numbers he had last season and get past him in 4-5 seasons. Isak too should be there soon enough. Here's hoping

Love that an interviewer asked Wilson what thought about Harvey Barnes and Wilson responds by saying that he’s exactly the type player that the club needs and that Barnes will get a lot of assists this year. [emoji38]  Always thinking about himself scoring goals.
