Yeah. Exactly that.

I'd now expect Osula to get more minutes now obviously. It's more about having an option rather than having no-one else.

What about a old striker coming to his last year or a loan? Can't have us dropping any hope of a defender or RW as we ain't signing 3 players.

Or a RW who can be thrown up top if needed hopefully a bit better at it than Gordon

I'd be tempted to sign a young 17/18 year old prospect from the lower leagues for about £5m and let him take Wilson's place in the squad until the end of the season. Integrate him into the squad and see how he does, what's the worst that could happen? He couldn't possibly contribute less than Wilson, who's giving us precisely zero

U21’s don’t take up a squad place.

I'd prefer a younger player who can/will improve but Isak, Osula & someone >>> Isak, Osula & no cunt

Could call it hindsight (not really though in regard to Wilson when you look at his injury record since 2015, almost all of which under Howe) but we should've tried to flog him at the end of 2022-23. Almiron as well tbh. Could've gotten decent money for them collectively with the two of them coming off the back of their best ever seasons. Instead they got new contracts, and we'll now lose both for nothing.

Aye we needed to be more ruthless in not giving out new contracts its not worked out. still dont think we would have had any takers at any decent money for them however. Just seems to not be a good idea unless its actually one of a our purples to give any player a new contract.

Can we just get rid of this absolute waste of flesh please? I don’t know how he dares pick up his wage and then strut  around like he’s achieved something. He’s extremely lucky to be anywhere near NUFC.

And the next person to mention Isak playing off him like it’s a remotely valuable / viable option is getting it.

‘Waste of flesh’

The internet, everybody

Also, ‘getting it’. Getting what? The withering put downs of somebody who exclusively watches Newcastle via PM’d links to streams?

We could've got £25m-£40m ish for them collectively then imo. Both coming off their respective best ever season, Almiron was still younger than 30 and Wilson was fit all summer.

I absolutely detest comments like this, and think it says alot more about the person saying it. It's not his fault his body is falling apart, and you would think the last few years have been extremely tough for him mentally as well as physically. Especially considering that whenever he has been on the pitch he's always gave his all, scored a lot of important goals and by all accounts is a solid bloke, who is really good behind the scene.

People seems to forget that footballers are humans too, and not just balls of flesh for our entertainment, with emotions and feelings like anyone else.

I say that as someone who has probably made similar comments in the past, and regret making them.

Agree to a point but you could equally see why keeping two players who seemed to be hitting new levels of form under Howe was very tempting when we needed to sign a whole new first team anyway.

It's well past time to go but it must be absolutely soul-destroying to witness your body giving in like this.

I agree with all of that and the bold bit especially.

They weren't both in form, Wilson was but his injury record is his injury record and could not be relied on. He was also over 30.

Almiron wasn't in form, he had a good month: he scored just twice in the new year that season, Bournemouth away and a deflection against Wolves at home. He was never going to replicate it and his career suggested that the purple patch was going to be exactly that.

They should've been sold after the end of that season yet they got new contracts either side of the end of it which they'll both see out without contributing for the overwhelming majority of the last 2 whole seasons. Poor planning or lack of ruthlessness. Or both.

Waste of a squad space is more fair and accurate...

Starting to wonder if there's more than what's being let on with Wilson like. If this is true that he is injured again, I'm wondering if that's the genuine issue or if something at home or in his personal life has set him back mentally. Maybe it's both. All seems a bit strange to be a really physically fit lad to injured every 2mins.

You're reading far more into this.  He's been a walking sick note for most of his career.

The same shit is happening with Luke Shaw and Reece James. Some players end up like this, and them not being injured is way more surprising than the contrary. Remember his chest injury at the end of the game? Bizarre, but we saw it live.

Can understand the anger and frustration it's not his fault he's got a contract and his career is coming to an end. However I have no sympathy for him is he on 70k a week? Best of medical care and a relaxed return to work which most of us mere mortals would not be afforded in our own jobs.

Thanks for the memories for the small % you were available for selection time to part ways if he gets any form of extension at this club they get what they deserve.

Between @Mike’s magic pillow, @Andy’s cherry juice, @Groundhog63’s Pilates regime and @Dr Jinx’s little blue pills, we’d have him fit and firing in no time.

At this stage just pay up his contract and show him the door.

If we do that Forest sign him for free, he has a miraculous recovery and forms a deadly strike partnership with Wood... 😅
