Newcastle United 3-1 Burnley - 03/10/2020 - post match from p19

Any team with midfielders than can run with the ball or an attacking midfielder that drops in between the lines will give us so many problems man.

Even today the gaps in midfield when we were trying to get back were pretty shocking. Burnley don't have any players to really exploit it though and neither of their forwards drop into space either.

That was actually surprisingly okay, bar the 15 minute spell at the start of the 2nd half. Much better.

Needed it mind, be surprised to see us pick up more than 3 points from next 5.

I'll be surprised to see us get 3. And I don't even know who we're playing. But it's not Burnley, WHam, Burnley,, Wham, Burnley.

Quite telling that in the second half Burnley came out and started bossing the game by passing it on the deck instead of letting us do it. Luckily we had Max on fire and his brilliance got us our two goals which won the game. Wish we could play Burnley every week, Bruce would have been one hell of a manager in 1999.

Best thing about yesterday was that Shelvey was out of the game for most of it

It's going to be fun when the opposition just run at him and realise that he won't even bother to try and stop you.

Performance was better than Brighton - still have habits which enable other team to grow into the game. You could tell within minutes in the second half that Burnley would score, it felt similar to West Ham at home last season where we then went and scored straight away. I'm not sure if it is a lack of concentration but it is frustrating.

Saint Maximin and Wilson will hopefully be a good link up, but I felt Lewis, Saint Maximin and Joelinton did well during the first half. There is a pattern of play to our game, but it revolves around playing the ball backwards. It has been picked up on here, but the centre of the pitch offer little creativity going forward and contributes to our minimal shots on target.

It would be ideal if we could get a loan deal arranged to get a bit more competition into the middle - unless he moves Hendrick into a central role soon.

Would love to see a more mobile, fitter, preferably an african centre midfielder play.Would make a massive difference to the team.

African you say? Why’s that then?

Guest Howaythetoon

African centre mids have a better engine. A lot of the best centre mids are from african descent.

Fucking racist, some of the best players were and are from Europe
