Was on the Mount Rushmore of no9s with Supermac, Milburn and Gallacher. Me mam and dads era, learned all about him from them and the centenary books in our dark days. Was quite literally a legend there. Never thought I'd see the like at that point.

My dad's favourite ever tale to tell is of when his dad knew someone who worked at the club, and invited the pair of them in for a look around. Who should just happen to walk in but Wyn the leap, who was naturally my dad's favourite player at the time. He ended up taking them all out onto the pitch, which hadn't been planned. Great story that I've always loved hearing.

RIP.

He was my idol when I started going to the game in the 60's. I can remember hearing the Leazes end chanting to the tune of Manfred Manns 'the mighty Quinn'. No goalkeeper came for a cross confidently when he was contesting it. RIP Wyn, my first football hero.

The clubs top goalscorer isn't on your Mount Rushmore?

First away game……..FA Cup 1967……Travelling on supporters club coach to Notts Forest….Heard that Wyn wasn’t playing as he was having a cartilage operation….Lost 3-0, but 2 weeks later he was back playing at St Jame’s (in those days a cartilage operation would be at least 6 weeks out)….What a player…Rarely missed a game.

He was a bit before my time, but certainly one you head about through the folk lore tales of older heads among the group.

I remember him being introduced through a nickname, 'The Welsh Airforce'.

RIP.

Billy Vigar.

Former Arsenal youngster.

Died aged 21. 😔

RIP.

Horrifically sad. Whole life ahead and from reports his injuries were sustained from a collision with a pitch-side wall, so very preventable. Rest in peace young'un. 😞

Horrible. Sounds like it happened during the match?

"Sept 25 (Reuters) - Chichester City forward and former Arsenal academy player Billy Vigar, 21, died on Thursday morning after suffering a significant brain injury sustained during an Isthmian League match at Wingate & Finchley on Saturday."
