Joe Willock has not trained yet but is making 'good progress' (Howe)

Recommended Posts

I personally thought his performance was really positive.

There were a few times where I remembered why he could split opinion. Held onto it a bit too long, a loose, casual touch resulted in losing the ball and sometimes overplaying a bit.

But watching him glide about and burn past players again was exciting. It might be because outside of our front three. We’ve been slow as shit for so many games, that it stood out even more than usual. Either way, we’ve certainly missed that from the both the Joes for most of the season.

Think it was a nice building block after Arsenal. Just hope he can stay fit now.

Link up out wide with Gordon was really good. Isak seems to enjoy playing with him. He found loads of space first half coming in more centrally and all.

Oh and some of his passing was great second half. Never really been part of his game that stood out to me. But certainly has it in his locker to play balls wide and in behind. Spurs last season being the most obvious example.

Things great about Willock

* Speed

* Dribbling

* Passing

We have missed him massively this season! Please stay fit!

Makes a huge difference having someone in midfield who can drive with the ball. Really missed his athleticism.

He's also got better while out.

What happened to that young lad who went missing in games. He was outstanding today. He's going to save our season, to a degree.

It's probably done his confidence the world of good seeing how much the midfield has missed him tbh, was playing today like he believed he was the missing piece

Willocks positional play and awareness was excellent. He's a super intelligent player and reads the game so well, he seemed to lift the players around him and coordinated the press brilliantly. Excellent link up play with Gordon and it gives Bruno a lot more options to release those killers passes.

Quite impressive for him to perform on this level after being out for pretty much the entire season, amd coming back just recently. Pleased for him.
