AyeDubbleYoo
You would never fall in love with Rafa's style of football, but you would fall in love with his incredible levels of attentional to detail and preparation. You could see his thought processes clearly playing out on the pitch, as he solved problems and continuously improved our approach. I'd take that over end-to-end desperation defending any day. Is this becoming a bit of a misconception about Rafa? Towards the end of his last season we looked awesome and very entertaining. Just because he kept things tight against the better teams whilst he had shite players at his disposal doesn't mean he doesn't like to play attacking football. AyeDubbleYoo
Yeah, fair, but he never put entertainment ahead of organisation or getting prepared for the opposition. Eventually he got to a position where he could have both.

Some of the football Liverpool played while not exactly prime Pep Barca was sublime mind, they were like a Klopp team of today, just more rigid and more direct if that makes sense, they would come out of the traps and be all over a team. mrmojorisin75
I loved Rafa's football, loved watching it develop knowing he knew what he was doing. You could actually see the planning and drills in action on the field, even when he was being cautious with poorer players it was better than much of what I'd seen KK/SBR aside. nbthree3
Footy Insider, mixed bag... https://www.footballinsider247.com/sources-bruce-tells-friends-he-could-quit-newcastle-united/ Steve Bruce has told friends he is feeling “lower than ever before” and has given thought for the first time to quitting Newcastle United, Football Insider can exclusively reveal. The 60-year-old’s public stance is he won’t walk out on the job he craved for much of his managerial career, which he reiterated again earlier this month. But a source with knowledge of Bruce’s situation has told Football Insider he is feeling “really down” and “lower than ever before” as the pressures of the job mount. Bruce is tired of taking the brunt of the supporters’ anger and continued dissatisfaction at the ownership of Mike Ashley, who has failed to sell the club to a Saudi Arabia-backed consortium. As the public face of the club, the manager believes he is taking all the flak from the fans and the media despite doing the job with one hand tied behind the back. Ashley’s stance is that he has no intention of sacking Bruce while Newcastle are in the Premier League.
Yorkie
I really wish we'd signed Choudury and Jones so that, when we were in the exact same position despite him being backed to such a reasonable extent, he wouldn't have that excuse to fall back on. What occurred over this summer passed, including the statement that was released, was unquestionably no way to work cooperatively with your manager. However, it's an irrelevance when you consider what little effect on the pitch a couple more players would have had, and it wasn't as if he wasn't backed. And, above all, of course there's that elephant in the room regarding his grateful acceptance of Ashleyism. It's what got him the job in the first place and he has no right complaining about his working conditions to the same extent someone like Rafa did. Fuck him. mrmojorisin75
must have had one hand tied behind his back for the entirety of his 20+ year managerial career then? fucking fraud
HaydnNUFC
I think the most likely scenario in relation to him leaving is him departing by 'mutual consent' where he gets some sort of pay off. Wouldn't be surprised if Ashley refuses though and insists he resigns instead so he doesn't have to pay him, if he does end up walking. ( ) Hope the fans at Wolves keep at him. 54
Bruce has actually kind of given me a slight bit of respect for Pardew. Like Pardew was a prick, but he knew he was and went along as such. Bruce is a prick but thinks he's a saint, and always plays the victim. Somehow the first one is more palatable to stomach. Darth Crooks
Pardew was an obvious narcissist - any criticism is automatically anyone else’s fault and self-awareness at zero. The perfect flak jacket for him. He was thin skinned but his ego acted like a deflector shield.

I don't think he deserved any signings this summer to be honest. He's absolutely tanked the value of all of the players he has inherited and none of the signings he was allowed to bring in last summer have panned out, barring Callum Wilson, who ultimately won't work out under Bruce anyway because he has to be managed smartly due to his injury history and Bruce is the absolute worst for that. In a way it's actually working out that fans are still going to the games because they can voice they're disgust at the rubbish being served up, and it's what he deserves. He's extremely fortunate that last season no fans were present. The guy is a clown.

Ben
I have no sympathy for Bruce whatsoever, all this crap about one hand tied behind his back is just hot air, he constantly praises Ashley and Charnley, in the summer he made a slight remark about transfers through Edwards and they hit back with an unsigned letter. Bruce shit himself and went straight back under Ashley's desk, his reputation could be saved in the North East if he joined in with his fellow geordies and fought against the ownership, however he loves money to much to the point where he thinks he deserves a pay off. Working for Sports Direct United he probably does.
brummie
Three years ago tomorrow, Bruce sacked at our place, when the table looked like this. In the team which drew 3-3 at home to Preston (best shot of the night, the one involving someone throwing a cabbage at him): Tammy Abraham, Axel Tuanzebe, Jack Grealish, John McGinn, James Chester - some very solid players at that level. Shocking underachievement. Edited September 30, 2021 by brummie
