Wolfcastle
If this had happened a few months earlier, Rafa would probably be the manager now and advising them what needs done to build a football infrastructure. I wonder what infrastructural advice Bruce's 20years in management and 40years in football have brought to bear.

Bruce would have wanted the canteen upgraded before the the wheelie bins, the inflatable pools and the leeches in the medical department room. lovejoy
If he isn’t sacked tomorrow they’re fully in ‘making an arse of this’ territory imo.
duo
I just want to see some intent now - get Bruce sacked NOW and throw the cheque book at Conte. He'd get us out of this mess and build a title challenging team.
nbthree3
He's here because a new manager isn't totally lined up, ready to go. Like when Rafa was all done before we pulled the trigger on McClaren. Far as I'm aware, Bruce is McClaren managing 'until he's told otherwise' and whether that takes a day, a week, a month more... he's not being sacked. Ideally he'd have gone the day after the takeover announcement but for whatever reason PIF especially are taking a lot of time, risking a few games (before an especially bad patch in December when we can't buy our way out of things) for the benefit the future might bring
huss9
at the very least they'll have bruce and lascelles in tomorrow to explain the daily mail piece.
HaydnNUFC
The 'future' is edging towards the fucking Championship and another 2 or 3 years set back from where we want to be. They should be shot with shite if this wanker isn't sacked.
TheInfiniteOdyssey
They've handled this so badly, there's no redeeming benefit of him staying a moment longer when you look at it. We haven't won a game all season, there's no risk to making the change even if an academy coach has to step in for a game.
huss9
alex bruce saying his dad's "win percentage" is irrelevant as he's only coached small clubs. i wonder his figures are for prem games, and non-prem games managed.

Yeah I mean, it's not like he's managed Aston Villa, Newcastle and Sunderland for significant periods of time. Some of the most illustrious football clubs in England. Yorkie
I hope they hold their nerve and get the right appointment as opposed to panicking. But clearly they need to reassess their view as to whether or not 'no manager' is better than this manager.
Chicane
Absolutely outrageous honestly, beyond a joke Players have to take some responsibility for their own personal development at some point and just show up anyway. Get the tea lady to help put out cones if you have to.

He’s barely working, he’s doing nothing, he’s giving them loads of days off (if true). He’s gotta sleep with the fishes.

If they can't see that before Palace, I'll worry. Worrying already tbh. Another alright fixture tossed off so they can make some more shortlists, fuck off man. AyeDubbleYoo
TBH I don’t have any faith that Jones would do any good, but at least the Bruce bounce might give them a boost, and they might start working full time.
Joe Nelson
Just bring in Keegan and let him work with Jones.
huss9
even if the cunt wants the players to have a rest day, why the fuck arent they in analysing their performance, palace's play and our own tactics?

AyeDubbleYoo
Weird Real Madrid didn’t think “this guy’s won 20% of his games with Wigan, he’ll obviously win 80 with us”. Edited October 18, 2021 by AyeDubbleYoo

E.g. OGS's win % at ManU I'm sure is higher than managers doing a better job at lower teams. That's not to say Bruce s is good, but it's not what I judge him on. Raconteur
I can appreciate the impatience, but I think we should just take a moment to review: For those who say “They’ve had 18 months to plan this”, I’d suggest their plan was “Get Rafa”. And since Rafa became unavailable, we’ve been in legal battles and not updating the “Get Rafa” footballing operation plan. ”Get Jones in” is another easy call - and if Jones wanted it, he would have been boss for Spurs. Either he doesn’t fancy it, or he’s become one of Bruce’s fawning entourage. No one has mentioned Dawson as a caretaker, despite him previously managing the squad though a pre season, but the same applies; there’s no way they didn’t float all internal options. The new owners have been left in no doubt a change is needed, and if the stories about Mehrdad calling manger agents is true, they’re actively trying to make it happen. So I guess I’m saying In quite chilled about Bruce leading us to defeat against Palace and Chelsea. I’m also quite chilled about potentially being 10-12 adrift before the window opens - purely because it’s easy to string a couple of wins into huge rises up the table around the relegation zones. #CabbageHeedOot and all, and it will happen. We’ve waited 14 years, another match or two is insignificant in the bigger scheme of things…
