Our remaining fixtures look fucking solid with this squad

Swansea City (h) W

Manchester City (a) L

Burnley (h) W

Crystal Palace (a) W

Manchester United (h) D

Bournemouth (a) D

Liverpool (a) L

Southampton (h) W

Tottenham Hotspur (a) L

Huddersfield Town (h) W

Leicester City (a) L

Arsenal (h) D

Everton (a) L

West Bromwich Albion (h) W

Watford (a) W

Chelsea (h) D

That’s really what we need to be looking at.

Does anyone know how many points we had at this stage during the two relegation seasons? Can it be easily mapped/graphed?

An 80% chance of going down is like having odds of 1/4.  For comparison, the bookies have us at 7/2, which is about a 22% chance.  Easy money.

Thank fuck for some common sense.

We’ve been having this debate since this thread was started

I always think goal difference is quite a good way of reflecting where a team "should" be during the middle of the season.  Looking at the table, i think we're in a fairly true position.  We might lack quality and fire power up front, but we have a good manager who knows how to get results to counteract that.  A few decent signings in the right positions and we'll be fine i think.

Watching this Premiership panel thing where fans around the world ring in, hosted by some lady, Leroy something and the former Tranmere manager, I forget his name. Leroy said we're going down. What a fucking cunt.

Difference is we're not a team on the decline getting worse as the season goes on. Rafa has us bouncing back most of the time, yeah we had that bad run but otherwise he's able to strategise his way through a season.

No new players it'll be a close thing, good quality new players it'll be fine.

Pre-season predictor (see my 4.11.17 update) now says (rubs crystal ball...) 37 points, I.e. What we were relegated on 2015-16(though reckon it would be enough this season).

15 more points? Don't think we'll do that much worse in the second half of the season, hopefully with a couple of new players coming in as well.

Played 22; 22 points. 16 to the play; which look (home or away re better teams etc) harder, on paper.

Fair enough. Still think we'll do better from now on. We won't play 9 straight games without a win for starters, that was a terrible run.

We're still one of the three most likely imo, without significant player reinforcements.

We absolutely need that investment, without it we are in massive danger, it's stupid to gamble, but if we play like we have in the last two away games we will get enough points to stay up even with the squad the way it is. I still think it's difficult to pick the three that will drop but Swansea and WBA are looking increasingly likely to take up two of the three spots, both have already played their new manager bounce Jokers too, their investment in the Jan window will be a good sign as to how they rate their own chances.
