We may as well flaunt FFP and do the same. If you can't beat them....

It doesn’t quite work that way though, although we have more sway than say, Everton, we’re not in a position to just go ahead and do that. No competitor (ie the other PL clubs) are sleeping on us like they were with Man City.

We've announced a couple of big deals and am sure there’s more to follow, it just needs to be built up gradually to convince those clubs we’re doing it in the right manner.

Our hands are tied even with new commercial sponsors as it has to be fair market value whatever that means. Meanwhile City who exaggerated their income to spend carry on reaping the rewards of their deceit winning title after title.

I don’t think we will ever be big enough to fully compete.

no wonder we were bought on the cheap

Look how much we’ve moved forward in the space of two years. It’s a world apart from where things were with Ashley and it will only gain more momentum. It was always going to be toughest immediately. Leicester won the league in the last decade. We broke into top 4, Villa be top 4 this season. All we need to do is keep building year on year and within three years we’ll be competing at the top level

Weird comment, and factually impossible.

Unless FFP and FMV get blown up by someone we are likely to remain roughly the 6th biggest club in the premier league in terms of income along with all the disadvantages that goes with that . If the Saudi's build a big shiny new stadium with increased capacity and match day and sponsoring opportunities similar to Spurs we might be able to compete with them again. We are still going to be well behind the Manchester clubs, Liverpool, Arsenal and Chelsea, which means less money to buy players, pay wages and virtually all the time this is reflected in the finishing position of the club.

You would need to be in the top four consistently for years to have a chance of overtaking Spurs.  At the moment, that looks beyond us.

Not sure how it’s factually impossible.  I can’t see how we catch up to Spurs at the moment; Man City and Man Utd are light years away.  Unless something significantly changes, we have a very obvious ceiling.

Speculative theory: Man City and the PL are in a deadlock, because Man City threaten to take the PL to court over FFP being anti-competitive if they are stripped of their titles and/or demoted a few divisions. Both parties know that Man City would have a very good chance of winning such a case, which would go against the interest of the PL and its big six cartel, and thus a compromise will be reached where parties will just kick the can down the road indefinitely as long as Man City play ball going forward.

Hang on, who are the PL’s “big six cartel”?

Poor horse racing fans.

I pity those having affairs. Where are they going to go if the Border Minstrel shuts? The Falcons Nest doesn’t have the same ambience or discretion

Right on my doorstep that. Highly doubt it but would rather they built it on the racecourse than build on the wooded land, it's where I take the dog for a walk and it's lush there.

No chance of building on the woods it’s SSSI. Only option is the racecourse or Parklands. Racecourse would be viable as it’s already owned by the Ruebens

 Seems a bit off as I would imagine both are profitable. Maybe there's a part that means they can keep everything.

Parklands will be I’d imagine. Racecourse will be floated by RacingUK money. The only meetings they will make money otherwise would be the plate, fighting fifth and ladies day and they have all diminished in stature once it went all weather

Where do they put the race course?

That was my first thought as well. Training complex is where everything happens pretty much and as such needs to be locked down from general public, including the horsey types.

I hate stuff like this too if I'm honest. You can't just flatten nice areas with woodland etc.
