We doing this backwards? Howe the king pin, appoint someone above him that he likes and matches philosophy wise, then we appoint a DoF that’s aligned to that, then a CEO that’s essentially just about the commercial side?

I said last season Jack Ross would be an ideal candidate for Head of Football Strategy and I was laughed at.

Last post to mention "head of football strategy" before today was 5 years ago so curious as to who laughed?

I agree with your points, but still would wait until the DOF appointment.

ideally if the case is that the candidates have meet and are aligned I would first announce the CEO.

Then the DOF who are «hired» by the new CEO. The he can promote Ross to whatever role.

For me it creates some sort of structure and commitment from all parties going forward.

Guess I am just burned by the lack of stability at the senior management level the last years 😂  Just want us to get it set up the right way now.

Can we employ someone to add a sense of urgency and speed to completing transfer deals?

That would be a role that I would get right behind!!

I'm assuming you're referencing incoming transfer deals here? In my experience, it's always the seller who benefits from a 'sense of urgency' in any transaction. Our transfer strategy is long-term now, and it's serving us well. You can wait a few weeks.

Hmm, yes I was referring to incoming deals.  I was not suggesting that we should really employ a sense of urgency though, just once we identify the player we want we should just get the deal done.  That should be pretty simple, it is for most other clubs it would seem.

James Trafford deal as a prime example...  I think we are up to 12 months now.  I realise that some of that is us and some of that is Burnley but, if we want him..  Just bloody buy him.

It was also not that serious a comment, I doubt there would be a role for a deal expeditor....   :D

So he will report to a Dof which we are now currently trying to recruit? So if they both can't get along, then we need to fill up this position again in another 1 year or so..

Confusing. Or we scrapped the intention of having a DoF...

We're currently monitoring several such targets and hope to start contemplating a bid in the coming weeks
