Dokko
7 minutes ago, The Prophet said: Hang on, so you're saying on the one hand he was only successful because he had loads of money, but on the other hand he wasted what money he had with dud buys? That doesn't add up. Eh? You are confusing 2 points here. Yes, some of his signings were flops, some good buys as well, the point being he had the chance to do so and why they rapidly went up the leagues and when it went wrong he had money to further buy his way out of trouble. He wouldn’t get much say in transfers so I’m not arsed on that side, my issue is lauding him as some miracle worker when in reality he couldn’t have been given any more resource during his time there. Truth be told no one really knows how good he is as the money behind Bournemouth masks that. His next job is where you’d really judge him, I just don’t want us to be taking the risk and finding out it was just the money catapulting them rather than his ability. The Prophet
If they're desperate to get someone in who has battled relegation, Favre is probably the best candidate out there. Edited October 19, 2021 by The Prophet
Dokko
Potter has far better credentials for miracle rises if that’s what matters, including football style. Still he sits with a lesser win % than Bruce in the PL.

54
https://www.90min.com/posts/newcastle-manager-shortlist-three-howe-fonseca-favre Exclusive - Newcastle United's search for a new manager to replace Steve Bruce has narrowed down to three candidates. 90min understands that final interviews are taking place this week, and the names in the frame are Eddie Howe, Paulo Fonseca and Lucien Favre - all of whom held initial talks with the club last week. Newcastle plan on having a new manager in place by this weekend, with the idea being that current boss Bruce is relieved of his duties before the game against Crystal Palace. The Magpies had initially intended on sacking Bruce in their first week before appointing current number two Graeme Jones on an interim basis, but they have instead opted to get a new permanent boss in now. The club's new owners are now all in the North East after chairman Yasir Al-Rumayyan flew in to attend Sunday's Premier League defeat against Tottenham - a plan 90min revealed on Thursday. Very interesting Rooting for Fonseca to really blow them away as I think he has the greatest long term potential to come in and do well and be here for a long time, secondly Favre because of what he achieved with Gladbach which mirrors our situation so closely and then Howe lastly. 54
Fwiw I would bite your hand off for Howe, always thought he would be a good fit for the club, plays decent attractive football, seems to be pretty humble, and did an outstanding job at Bournemouth, also think he has the potential to grow as the club does. LV
Howe has had glowing recommendations from Harry and Jamie Redknapp apparently. That’s me sold.

KaKa
Good to know they've actually gone about conducting a couple of rounds of interviews if that's true. Will be comfortable with the hire after that approach. May the best man win.

So what connects all 3? Hopefully these are the 3 which best suits an overall plan rather than the scattergun approach we usually have. Howe the only one with prem experience so guess it’ll be him.
