Eddie Howe

For years, every time we played man city it has been like we are scared little boys who won a prize to get a go on a premier league game. Howe finally made us stand up and act like we are meant to be in this division and capable of competing in it. At long fucking last.

Nah I see where you’re coming from mate, but I think he is prepared to risk some bad results (e.g. Spurs last year, when he admitted he was wrong also) for very good outcomes overall. He knows there’s enough in that team to fight back rather than be scared, even if it’s at risk of City scoring another. With Rafa also, difficult to do compare as he had a much weaker side, but the flip side of his tactics was failing to register a shot on target at home against a Fulham side that got relegated.

Can't post a contrasting opinion without some users getting pissy.  Haha

You're going on about him not being pragmatic enough yet we go toe to toe with them, get a much deserved draw and now you're bleating on that it would have 5 if Pope and ASM didn't play well.

Just enjoy it man

Tbf he said some very positive things about it being fantastic that we have 5 points from the first 3 games.

I think it hard to take the game in isolation and not think how it would play out 99/100 or whatever.  Yeah, enjoy the win today, but then also consider how it played out and think, "is it the best way to get results more often than not against that level of opposition?"  And I think maybe not.  That's all.  Think I can post my opinions and not have to happy clap every idea.

So yeah, I can hold these thoughts and also enjoy it.

We didn't win today

If we sat back and played 5 at the back then we lose that game 99/100

We got it spot on leaving ASM high up allowing to exploit the spaces. He'd have not have been able to do that if we sat further back and he'd have to dribble an extra 10-15 yards

Said it multiple times before, but thank fuck we've got him, man. Wonderful performance, he totally fucked Pep's inverted full backs. Sadly, City have just way too much this season. Holding out at 3-1 was always going to be difficult, but he did the best he could with the squad he's currently got. Desperate for him to win a trophy with us now.

I'm not saying we need to sit back deep in our own box.  I've actually said that explicitly.  Don't just assume that's what I mean.  Have already outlined my thoughts on that.  But don't go making up what I think [emoji38]

What should he have done then?

Being pragmatic doesn't have to mean that.

I think we're a little too high on the risk versus reward.  Like, maybe it makes us both more likely to get a result but also get battered.  I'm just a bit more Rafa in that regard.

Take it you didn't see the game against Brighton last week then?

God, this is churlish.

I think we slightly over commit our press for too long and that leaves us tired later in games.  DM position needs to be a bit more defense focused to track runs past our defence.  But I'm some layman posting his opinions from very little.

Loads I love though.  433.  Holding mid.  Pressing midfielder.  Joe and ASM double team on Walker.

I'm talking about when we play elite teams.

Nothing wrong with the approach against other sides.  I love jt.

How you can watch that and come on here looking for the negatives is beyond me.

‘We played fantastic today but if a couple of the players had been shite we would have lost’.

I think that's 100% the reality of today?  They got a higher XG.  Our chances came from ASM playing a blinder.  Pope made 4 or 5 saves that wouldn't have happened last season.

the subs bewildered me a bit, if you're excited by Anderson he has to come on ahead of Murphy

Murphy has experience and that trumps Anderson, even if Anderson is better or at least, has more potential.  Howe wants someone to do a specific job and trusts the experienced guy more.  No slight on the kid.
