gbandit
There is no point to Mourinho at all. We’re trying to build something for the future here that’s sustainable
Wullie
I wouldn't have the slightest hesitation in throwing my hands up and fucking the whole thing off again if Mourinho were to rock up.

Cronky
20 hours ago, Cronky said: I can’t speak for what went on at Bournemouth, but last season with us, thanks to clever tactics and good mental preparation, he overachieved massively with the squad he had. It helped that we were relatively free of significant injuries and fixture congestion, but over the last few weeks we’ve had both. The modest quality of some of our players has been exposed and the lack of preparation time and options have prevented Eddie from using his considerable skills. It’s not like we had a great side that suddenly looks ordinary. We had an ordinary side that Eddie made look great. Unless we are able to play at our peak, a lot of our methods don’t work well. This may be what’s behind the ‘streaks’ Just wanted to add to this post. Eddie did mention the lack of training time in a recent interview, and I think that he does rely a lot on good, detailed training to get the most out of his players. He's very thorough in this area. In his time here, I've never quite been able to figure out why we don't concede more goals, because the back four lacks pace and no-one in the midfield is a good tackler. The answer has to be in the area of organisation, and Eddie has lately had to deal with the double whammy of limited training time, and a back four plus keeper that has not been the stable unit that we managed to maintain last season. In this respect, I'm intrigued and mildly encouraged to see how we do against Liverpool. Eventual defeat is likely of course, but I'm hoping we'll be tougher to break down than in recent games. Miggys First Goal
People need to stop with the Mourinho talk. The more you mention his name the more likely it’ll fucking manifest. Yorkie
I categorically do not want Eddie Howe to be replaced by Jose Mourinho but I wouldn't feel apathetic if he was next off the conveyor. He's generally a tedious bore and it would end in tears eventually, but I don't think you can rule-out the concept of it just clicking for him here. For him to have achieved consecutive European finals with Roma, he's still clearly got something about him.

You absolutely do not want Mourinho. It's miserable.

RS
I really believe the missing training is key to our recent failures. Players need coaching. The cabbage era showed us real time what happens when players aren’t coached. There’s no excuses when we return to “normal” and the injury crisis wanes and I fully expect us to revert to business as usual.
r0cafella
Hope we stick with Howe, wouldn’t want Jose at all. That being said, if it were to happen it doesn’t change my support of the team.

Guybrush
Nay idea why there's even an utterance of a potential Howe departure. He's the personification of hard work, professionalism, and ambition. The man should be our Alex Ferguson - here for the long term. There's obviously frustration from our current poor run of form, but supporters in general need to remember where we were just a few years ago. In a football sense, the fact that Ashley, Pardew, Bruce et al are gone should still be a massive cause of celebration. Howe has indicated that due to the fixture schedule they haven't spent time working on things on the training ground with the focus has been on recovery ready to go again. Think the lack of a full squad has meant a team vs a team in training is impossible, Howe also said a few times last year they train like they play which I would imagine is impossible when handling knocks and fatigue. Basically, when you've only got 3 days between games because of European/cup competitions, it's mainly going to be rest and recovery in between, and not intensive drills or tactical tweaks to face your next opponent, as opposed to having 6 days or so. Which you can only manage with a bigger, trusted squad if you're in Europe year on year, that we haven't had the time to build due to our rapid progress last year. Chelsea Tuesday, wed rest, Thursday train, Friday travel, sat Luton, sun off, Xmas day who knows, boxing day forest. I know where the idea's coming from even though it seems hysterical given what he's done in 2 years here. Howe is a great leader and motivator, I don't think anyone can dispute that. But there will be some question marks of whether he's been winning the tactical battles in some games, particularly recently where we've got beaten by some pretty ordinary teams. He could do with getting one over Klopp this weekend as well, the grinning German has come out on top every time so far.
RUHRLYASLEEVESUP
Has anyone mentioned just over 2 years ago we had Bruce in charge ? Just to play devils advocate, West Ham played more games than us last year & a very similar amount this year with very little spent & are doing very well this season, to me our 100mph approach (intensity is our identity) has had a detrimental effect on the consistent wellbeing / fitness of a lot of players, how we transition to a possession based team with current players is a bit of a quandary I think for Eddie & his team, I will still back him to do so & adapt as hes a fantastic man & a joy to have in charge of our club, whether he has the minerals to actually win something for us only time can tell, to put in perspective to me, I can vividly remember being 3 nil up against Charlton & getting beat 4-3 lol, what we have now was unimaginable then, just cool the jets man lads, we will be fine albeit prob not this season. x Edited December 29, 2023 by RUHRLYASLEEVESUP
Kanj
West Ham didn’t play Dortmund, Paris and Milan twice; and I assume their cup games didn’t include both Manchester teams and Chelsea. I assume they’ve played the exact same teams as us in the league to not downplay their incredible +18 pt haul v last year.

Thomson Mouse
The NUFC social media and here are mainly an embarrassment. We’ve had what, a decent, maybe two seasons so far and now when our form inevitably dips for very good reasons people are now telling us Howe can’t do it. We’re on a journey, so far, I trust Howe to take us on it. If you don’t want to be on it then feel free to fuck off.

No they didn't your right, they did manage to beat Arsenal in the Carabao & get smashed off Liverpool, we beat an average Man united team & an understrength City team however that wasn't my point, the amount of games, travelling, Fatigue etc in my opinion is very similar, the literally have 11 1st team players as we have had for periods recently, my point is / was to draw a parallel between 2 teams currently of similar abilities & the recent performances, West Ham are as you say well ahead of last seasons benchmark whereas we are not. x
