Not wanting to divert the thread, but when I read that my first thoughts were Tonali. We're living in dreamland if we think he'll start next season fully up to speed with the team and Premier League.

We're probably not going to keep doing this now that we're out of Europe plus the Carabao cup.

Have to admit I'm getting increasingly angry at even the notion of there being a question that needs to be answered on Howe within the fanbase. I find it utterly pathetic, beyond fickle, and really disloyal from people who are essentially clueless armchair pundits like the rest of us.

Some fans seem to be desperate to be seen as realists by insisting that no matter what the circumstances, the buck stops with the manager, and that bringing up the obvious circumstances that have played a massive part in our downturn in form is being soft and a mug or something. No one thinks you're Gordon Gekko for questioning the manager, you're just a try hard nobody.

Howe is the best thing that has happened to this club in decades, not the owners. Frankly anyone questioning him is not only a complete idiot, but their sense of loyalty also isn't worth a jot.

Lee Ryder needs to fuck off like, if he's putting that across to Howe as if it's a opinion the majority of fans hold

Yep, that’s boiled my piss.  I can’t stand Ryder.   He’s a shit stirrer with the worst grasp of written English I’ve ever seen from someone employed as a journalist.  That was a cowardly approach to that question - he could have asked it without the ‘fans’ patter.

Could not agree more. There's a section of the fan base that seems to see pessimism as grown-up and optimism as childish, so lurch towards the most negative spin on anything that happens to show how fucking adult they are.

EDIT: Not aimed at anyone in particular on here, it's all over twitter

I knew the fanbase would become more expectant and move away from 'a team that tries' ethos, but the transformation we've had in the space of 2 years is enough to give you whiplash.

No-one should have short enough memories of the previous 14 years to then watch our worst performances under Howe and say they were like an Ashley era performance, that's just absolutely mental. What bad Ashley era match do you remember Newcastle losing while dominating possession and every player putting in 100%? Honestly man.

If anything, our poor performances and losses are much nearer to some of the kamikaze football under Keegan than anything.

I’m pretty sure that Howe knows that’s it not the entire fan base saying it. I’m also certain that he both knows and accepts that it’s a part of football when things don’t go too well. Nothing to make a meal out of.

Am I missing something here like? But I thought majority of us think he hasn't got a plan b. So why was ryder getting pelters.

That'll be the bit you're missing. He's tried to tweak the system where he can in a few games this season but has his hands tied by the unprecedented number of injuries we have.

it's not an uncommon view, but I doubt it's close to a majority. Ryder posing it to Howe as if it is exactly why window-licker is getting pelters.

Eddie's deadpan five-word response to Louise Taylor's lengthy Carragher quotes -- "Very interesting points from Jamie" -- cracked me up.

There's an exaltation of pessimism and self victimization that really irritates me. Pessimists and optimists probably have similar chances of being right. But pessimists are generally unbearable to be around.

Some folk are just wired up differently. I’ve been taught to count my blessings. If you think you don’t have any count  again, for there are many!

People who are just naturally pessimistic and negative, I feel sorry for them, that's in their nature. If things are 97% great, they'll highlight the 3% negativity. It's sad, but that'll never change.

If the happy clappers who've sat and accepted the 14 years of Ashley without a whimper start piping up now, however, they can fuck right off.

This includes the likes of Ryder who didn't write a thing against him, or Bruce, for instance.

Do you believe him when he says he has no assurances of being backed in January?

Not at all, they will have discussed targets and multiple plans at length and him saying that is playing on his humble nature to continue the "we're potless cos of FFP" narrative we've used since day one to quash the "richest club in the world, hike the price" shit from elsewhere.

Eddie naturally plays everything down in his pressers and it suits us down to the ground. The only aspect of it that can be irritating is when he does it about player injuries, I'd prefer he told us they were all fucked and we get a pleasant surprise when they're back "early" rather than what seems to happen where he intimates a few weeks out and they're crocked four month.

I've been taught that knowing there's millions of people in the world worse of than you doesn't make it any easier to sort your shit out but sort your shit out, you must.

That cunt Holt in the Mail has written a big article on Howe and why he might be under pressure if things don’t improve quickly.

Does say he hopes Saudis have patience but dismisses injuries as an excuse as other clubs are suffering same.

Really hope Howe can get a result soon otherwise more will start to sharpen their knives over next couple of weeks.
