Yeah, running those comments through the Howe filter and he sounds more than a bit pissed off. Can't blame him either, This summer was the one to build on after the trophy and CL qualification and only Elanga through the door must be hugely disappointing. There's context obviously but the list of positives to happen off the field since May is just 1 - Elanga (next on the list would be Jack Ross getting a new job title). Went for player after player and been fucked off each time so far despite having cash to spend. While I'm having a bit of a whinge this was also the summer than we had to demonstrate some ambition to our better players and I'm also wondering what they're thinking of the inability to get more bodies in. Next 6 weeks are vital, there's time but something needs to change drastically off the park

Another reference to Mitchell leaving resulting in turmoil.

Like are we going to address what the real reason was that led to him leaving and why we still don’t have a solution in place during the most important time? Really does feel directionless the club with everything from stadium to staff. Howe has done wonders to keep things moving forward and it seem things are progressing all the time, when off the pitch, it feels anything but.

For the second pre season in a row, everything just seems a bit of a mess of the pitch.

Hard to disagree and Eddie clearly didn’t want Mitchell to leave

It’s pretty infuriating how we have arrived here. Winning the cup and the champions league qualification should have provided the momentum for transfers, new sponsorships etc. Instead we send our star player home and have doubts over his future.

“My wish was for us to do our business early and we certainly tried but it wasn’t to be. We’ve had a frustrating time in terms of losing targets to other clubs. I’ve been very open about that, it’s happened on a couple of occasions but you just have to accept it. For a transfer to really work, in my opinion, the player has to be desperate to come to your club and if you don’t get that the transfer doesn’t work."

“We’re seeking players who are good enough and are desperate to come and will make a difference. They’re in short supply for us but we’re confident that we can get some more players in to strengthen the depth of the squad. We certainly need to.”

One thing Howe has achieved with his interview is to draw attention away from our performance today. Maybe he knew we weren’t ready so decided to create some different headlines!  In Eddie we trust  (to not always tell the truth). I do not believe this of course.

Then pay the money for Trafford?

The pool of players were trying to shop in aren't desperate to come to Newcastle United because they also have the choice of signing for City, Chelsea, Liverpool or other cartel clubs, Eddie.

Again, I'm a moron, and I can easily grasp this concept.

It doesn’t matter if we pay the money, if City want him they’ll have him because of the buyback.
