Deserves pelters for this, frankly.

We seem to have no ability to, and perhaps even no interest in, playing better football than teams.

Joelinton staying on the pitch for 90 minutes in a game we were chasing and were just gifted the ball for the entire second half is fucking laughable.

Yeah it’s becoming a real issue now. We’re just a team of bigger, stronger, faster and with the extra games and fatigue it just means far too many substandard footballers are on the pitch. We’re so shit in possession it’s laughable.

I remember a quote from him a couple of years ago where he said that if you keep doing the same thing, it’ll eventually work out. He’s obviously an excellent manager, but honestly, that mindset highlights his weakness in game management.

Today was the first time where it looked like he had no idea what to do. Proper scatter gun game management.

Except he didn’t do the same thing at all. He made a bunch of weird subs at half time

It will actually in a way be really annoying if we substantially raise our game mid-week again, because to me, that’s indicative of an attitude / motivation problem.

Are the players upping their game in the champions league cos they are in the ‘shop window’?

I’ll do his interview for him
“I thought we looked tired today, not like our usual selves, certainly in the 1st half, improved a bit in the 2nd half, but not getting that early goal in the 2nd really hurt us I thought”

If Elanga and Ramsey were bought mainly on his call then I would really question his knowledge in transfers to be honest

Things like playing Burn at fullback were absurd 2 seasons ago never mind now

Like I said earlier, if his usual 4-3-3 with his usual preferred personnel doesn't work then he has no effective alternative whatsoever and it is quite concerning he hasn't figured one out by now this far into his time here. That second half just stunk of desperation and cluelessness.

Prem season is a write off. Time to rescue it Howe with the cups please.

I mean the league season clearly isn't a write-off; there's 28 games still to play. But it's looking and feeling weirdly similar to this time last year, and we don't have the fixture relief or the world class striker to drag us into a season-defining winning run. So it's looking a bit hairy, admittedly.

We can obviously still be competitive in the top half but it goes without saying that today has to be the nadir.

For all his faults I can’t see him being that soft.

Except he did. He changed players but he didn’t change the style, which is clearly what I was meaning. Tonali at right back ffs, criminal offence that tbh

It's a big part of his job.- to motivate and make sure the players are ready, that they are up for it! Today he failed miserably. He has a soft and friendly approach of course as we know, it does not work on these modern day diva footballers Mr Howe! No more Mr nice guy!

We have needed a playmaker for three seasons now to unlock a low block, and he still hasn't signed one. That today was embarrassing. He was bringing players on just for the sake of it in the second half, and then putting other players out of position just to fit them in. The performances are just not acceptable and he needs to sort it out quickly. Elanga man £55 million, I said at the time it was well over double to what he was worth

Howe will be as pissed off as any of us today. He is clearly all about finding improvement and doing things better.

Just hope we see this ASAP as our away performances are fucking gutless. Doesn’t appear to be any kind of plan at all other than 11 players put out. I remember us pressing teams, making life hard for them and being streetwise as fuck. We are the complete opposite now. Everything is so fucking predictable.
