Calling it the bigger picture says it all to me tbh, the bigger picture is positive, not negative. We're still a work in progress - particularly after selling the rat - still have to address the away form and the inconsistency, but what bigger picture you're seeing that's negative is beyond me.

The bigger picture after Wednesday has changed to now

Howe said: "I could have taken anyone off. That is a reflection of where we were at that stage of the game.

"It is very rare for me to feel that way. I don't think I have since I have been Newcastle manager. I felt that the team needed shaking up at half-time, that's why I did what I did."

Of course there’s negatives or this wouldn’t be being discussed.

Things go stale at clubs sometimes, I’m not saying sack Howe or sell half the squad. But we need to define what it is the club is going forward.

Are we defined by Howe (and all his positives/negatives) or does the new Sporting Director try and bring an identity to the club at all levels that’s consistent regardless of what manager is in place?

At the moment I wouldn’t be opposed to Howe bringing in some new coaches to try and freshen things up. Ferguson made great use of this every few years and they evolved because of it, notably when Carlos Queiroz was brought in.

That’s a sad reflection on him, it shows that he had no idea how to change it and just made changes for the sake of doing so.

I can't understand how bad we are from set pieces at the moment by the way. Look at how fucking massive the team is, they should be scoring from set pieces every game more or less - the main difference between us and Arsenal is that they are scoring goals from set pieces and we are not. Our defensive data is more or less the same as theirs this season.

Not having a left footer feels is killing us from one side when Hall is out, as there's no inswing option. Instead it's a floated outswinger which all you can do is loop a header back towards goal. Probably another reason why signing a FOURTH right footed in Elanga doesn't help us for something different.

I don't think that's what he was saying mind :) saying they were all equally shite and he could have taken anyone off isn't the same as saying he just rolled the dice randomly and hoped for the best.

Been found and he has no answer. Like most managers when the tide turns. Such is life.

It's shite as he's a good bloke, but the writing's been on the wall.

2 steps forward 2 steps back so far this season.

We have to change it up away from home - that midfield line of 5 is killing us every week

That and the lack of intensity in our play - even at 1-O I thought to myself we look so tepid today

I did list the negatives like so it's not that I'm saying there aren't any, I'm saying the bigger picture is positive not negative.

Take your point about coaches, but I think because we're such an obvious work in progress at the moment, I wouldn't turn to that unless it's a clear problem/Howe thinks we need it.

I've said it before as well, but imo Howe has created/re-booted our identity and our DoF should be all about the continuity of that identity. I'm against anything that isn't in line with what Howe has created here. His style of football here is close to a modern Keegan style and I think it feels right.

One thing I will say - I haven't watched his post-match interview but I'm absolutely sure he won't be making excuses about how they played, or players we were missing or anything else. Whether he'll be able to do it or not we'll have to wait and see but I'm 100% sure he'll be trying to work out how to fix what has been going wrong rather than trying to deflect blame.

Set penis coach has added fuck all like. As good as Shola is for loans.

I do think, and have said it a few times on here, his backroom staff provides only an echo chamber, and that is where his limit comes from. He doesn't seem like someone who would accept being challenged from within, and none of the coaches in his crew are elite, therefore they are only going to take players and the club so far. He needs to end his loyalty to his tried and tested, on and off the pitch.

Anyone who thinks Dan Burn at LB in 2025 is the best option doesn't deserve to be in football. Not even Dan Burn thinks that. Put Joelinton there. Botman. Don't ship out Targett. Change to a back 3. Play with 10 fucking men. Whatever it is, the answer is not Dan Burn. It's becoming unforgivable.

The problem I have with that is how we’re ever going to integrate the academy and u21 side into that. Howe can’t do all of it.

And about bringing in new coaches, when is Howe ever going to get JT or Jones to sit back and let someone else come in? He’s never going to make that decision in the same way he won’t sign a playmaker and he won’t sign a defensive midfielder.

It was bad enough but Sandro to RB was enough for me.

The 2nd half was a complete shambles. I haven't a clue what he was trying to do but playing our best player out of position at RB was simply bizarre.

He has to find a solution to our terrible away form and he has to it quickly. It's not just the results that have been bad. The performances have also been terrible. It's not like we've been unlucky.

Probably the worst manager performance we've seen from him today.

Loved that he made big changes at HT, as it was desperately needed. Annoyed it wasn't just a simple like for like with Barnes for Gordon, Ramsey/Miley for Joelinton and Burn for Hall.

If it's another 4 years until next time I won't complain.

Seemingly except Burn or Joelinton.

Who for me were a big part of why we were so shit.

Where have I said this time get rid? He has to do better than the poor showing displayed so far though. Of course you were one of the few who thought Elanga was worth his fee. Learn the meaning of Deja Vu before quoting people

Harsh on Vlad, Mikky and Alberto 2005. Can see a couple of prime time wasters in there though

I tend go way OTT sometimes - have tried to ease up and be a bit more thoughtful before posting - especially since Howe arrived - sometimes my emotions get the best of me
