Let's see what he's like when he doesn't have a ridiculous amount of resources. Doubt we'll ever find out. I like the bloke and his achievements are beyond question, but he's imo more boring than Mourinho except in a very different way obviously. Endless keep-ball, excessive tactical fouls, the neutering of countless flair players, mad rotation leading to a lack of standout stars, centre halves aal ower the shop. Can't stand Klopp as a bloke but his teams inspired far more entertaining changes to the game than Pep's ever did imo. That's more a stylistic preference though, rather than who is the best manager or coach. Pep's style (or his early style) requires incredibly detailed work and he's reinvented football a couple of times over, especially reinventing successful teams. Entertainment sure, if you prefer Klopp's style then that's fine. Personally I love grinding people down with excessive possession Edited December 2, 2025 by AyeDubbleYoo
Lucky
In greatest of all time, SAF is still the one when it comes to the PL. he wasn’t a coach, he just knew how to extract the very best from the players and staff he had and knew exactly when to freshen things up. They were there or thereabouts every season since the early 90’s right up until when he retired. Not sure we’ll ever see that again in terms of longevity. Pep genuinely brought something new to football, or at the very least finessed the Dutch thing of “total football” - a case can be made now that it’s on the wane but I don’t think his current team man for man is the best he’s worked with. He’s still the best currently. Ultimately I think having Haaland is somewhat of a curse because he had to change things to accommodate him and lost a little something of what made them that good. Wenger also modernised the game in many ways and aside from the success I think he forced others like SAF to raise their game. To go a whole season unbeaten still to this day is remarkable. Klopp has to be part of the conversation but cannot say he’s been better than the others mentioned above.

Granted you need the top players to do it, but why shouldn't quality count when we are judging football at the ultimate level? There's nothing stopping the hoofball merchants from spending loads and winning everything.
The Butcher
Think it's fair to say that the mentality we once had is gone. Oh well. Not the end of the World. Spurs are good away, but overall nowhere near good enough.

Pilko
Please stop bringing on an extra CB to defend the lead late, it doesn't work. Crap result, middling-to-decent performance but ultimately undermined by the goalkeeper (again) and a rare bad day for Burn. If we beat Burnley at the weekend it's not too bad this but we really need to cut out this late pissing away of points, it's such a massive hold back for us. Klopp has to be part of the conversation but cannot say he’s been better than the others mentioned above. The difference with Klopp is that he's only built one great team at his clubs, Fergie, Wenger and Pep have built multiple great teams. I've said it before about Howe, he built the house that Howe built and won a trophy, champions league etc. now some of the key players he built that team have peaked and he is building the difficult second house. That's the challenge and what will define him as a genuine top manager or one who we put in that bracket but the wider football world dont

Zero
I don’t think Howe has to be blamed for the second goal. Had it be a 2-1 win people would be singing praises for back to 7th. Ramsdale has to be the one that should be crucified for this result. Probably the only one as well.
Sean
Who or what is to blame for this season I’m not really sure. However, our summer business has been shown to be shocking so far, with the exception of Woltemade who was forced by the sale of Isak and Thiaw who we had been tracking for 3 years. Where the fuck was the forward thinking or planning? Surely we don’t spend so long to come up with a winger who can’t control a football, a midfielder who is much of a muchness and a goalkeeper (who we all agreed we needed an upgrade) who is a massive downgrade? Can the manager even be excused for this? Ive got no idea at the minute.

He can't be blamed for the defenders and goalkeeper letting a ball pass them in slow motion into the back of the net.
