They’ve won leagues and continental cups with considerably bigger / better squads. There’s zero evidence that any of them would be an improvement for us.

Means they can do it under massive pressure and handle top players.

And in turn have become successful managers that are courted by the elite teams.

Both teams produced nothing in respect of goalmouth action. Game won on an OG. Poor tactics from Howe. I thought after the expected first 20mins bombardment we'd come out firing but powder puff. Miley was practically anonymous and the physicality of Big Joe was a miss. Elanga shite, Wolt shit, was hoping Eddie would get blast them at Half-Time and we'd come out on the front foot.

Bottled it in my mind

I've abstained from voting in the poll as I'm just not sure what is best for the club at the moment. He's turned it around quite a few times before but it feels worse this time and to an extent like he's lost the players, or at least that they aren't running through brick walls for him like they used to.

In seasons gone, I could never imagine a derby game under Howe looking so flat. Where has the team gone that used to go away to the likes of Arsenal and get right up in their faces?

Why are we so passive and negative?

When you look at the players available to us today, we should be controlling the game. Or at least trying to - granted it doesn't always work like that in a derby, but we genuinely didn't even try to push up the pitch as a unit. We attacked in twos and threes at best. Where has that fear come from?

This is the closest I've felt myself to turning against him, and I can see why other people have. This is the one where we really couldn't fail to turn up, but it's arguably the worst of a bad bunch of away performances this season.

No post match interview yet. Is it right he has resigned, Andy?

Oh no. Just for second imagined he was a fucking snow flake fruit loop like the rest of you.

I don’t want us to get rid of Howe but he is rightly being criticised and doubted because we are not good enough. For the money we have spent we should not be 12th in the league.

He gets until the end of the season for me because I know he can turn it round but if we don’t improve his job will need to be considered.

This is starting to smell like when people were thinking Sir Bobby wasn't up to it and then we got Souness.

The problem wasn’t Robson going, it was his replacement. I’d like to think Hopkinson et al have more nous than Shepherd. Should it happen that is.

We’ve spent a shitload of money building this squad, man. It’s no one’s fault but Eddie’s if his hand picked players aren’t good enough.

The risk is you can talk about transitional seasons, but will Tino, Sandro etc buy that

No europe next season and both of them will be away

Probably lucky that this season is a WC year and there's usually a fairly big turn over of managers post tournament so we may have options.

FWIW i think he would take the England job if offered again, his stock can drop just as quick as it has risen (see Potter prior to Chelsea)

I wouldn’t be upset at selling any of the current squad.

I get that, but it's lazy homophobia. Don't think you'd say it from a place of hate but there are a million better ways to say that Gordon gets too much grace from the manager.

Fair enough and point taken. Wasn't meant in a homophobic way and if it came across that way I genuinely apologise.

His fixation with playing Gordon after him letting us down time and again is hurting us, however. The point does remain.

Not blaming any individual player but the midfield just isn’t working either as a defensive shield or a platform to generate chances. Not sure if it’s fatigue, tactical or what but the ‘best midfield 3 in the PL’ was always a stretch but now it’s a joke.

Howe needs to get to grips with this issue.

I think defensively everything worked fine. Mackems didnt create a single chance before the OG.

Poche got spurs to a CL final and semi final and four consecutive premiere league top four finishes - they hadn't got two seasons leading up to him taking the job. At Chelsea even though they sacked him he took a club in turmoil the season before that finished 12th up to finish sixth and got them two cup finals and a semi final. At Southampton he took a team that was finishing in bottom half to 8th, getting them there highest points finish and premiere League finish I think whilst getting a reputation for bringing on their talent, working with players like Luke Shaw to bring them through. Overrated is subjective but I think he could take us on to the next level, totally understand why others don't think this though as he's won very little and his Chelsea time was only half good.

Emery - you never know if you don't ask, villa are doing well but their skint and he may see us as a bigger project, last time we approached him we'd proven nothing and were rock bottom, you just never know.

We have no idea how Glasner would be given all the games. He could be greta. But he also could be the flavor of the month. Tuchel is a non starter until after the World Cup anyway. I like Poch, but just not convinced he would do well here.

There is no way that Emery is leaving Villa for us atm. So the best bet is clearly to give Howe the season to turn it around.

I'm in no way wanting Eddie sacked and I love him to buits but if it did happen I'd go for Glasner

Glasner's definitely number 1 for me in the flavour of the month managers that will seem like mad suggestions with hindsight

You’re becoming propaganda at this point. We’ve thus far been incredibly poor in the league with a few wins over utter shit at home (and City) padding it out.

Propaganda? For recognising the reality of where we are in the season? I agree we’ve had plenty of poor performances, and plenty of things that everyone should be doing better, but it’s not remotely close to a shitshow, man. That’s just nonsense.

The ‘not sure’ poll nonces need to get off that fence

More than enough data on Howe, place that vote

:aww:

My fence is nice, very comfortable, wide enough to line a few beers on it and watch all the fires below.

Eddie’s been a terrific manager but the idea that he alone can manage this club is silly bordering on delusional.

This. Eddie should be head coach, period. Nothing more, nothing less. The club has been a bit of a mess for a while, club management and player recruitment needs to be as good as the manager. This doesn't mean that Eddie is blameless, btw.

He's won the FA Cup and they're in the top 5. Hardly a flavour of the month thing

Agreed, Gordon's penalties have papered over how poor he's been this season. Barnes all day for me.
