Remy was a lethal finisher - would've loved to see him under Howe. Absolute Howe player all over.

Absolutely that being said I thought Wissa movement yesterday was great.

100%.  I’ve seen plenty ask what Howe would have done HBA - I reckon HBA would’ve been out on his arse in a heartbeat.  Remy would’ve absolutely thrived under Howe - he would’ve become one of the league’s most effective players in Howe’s 4-3-3 with Howe’s coaching alongside it.

Overall I thought it was a good game and that Eddie made the right decisions in taking off Tonali, Hall and Gordon.

Hopefully this can be the start of a great run.

I'm a lot more positive now, especially seeing all these players returning from injury.

No one would be more happy than me if I'm proven wrong about being sceptical.

Eddie is a great coach, but his stubborness is holding him back.

Playing the same players, using the same tactics and style, will ultimately halt our progress.

We can’t afford to miss on transfers, but we can’t expect to hit the jackpot every time either. To counteract this, I wished Eddie would loosen up, and adapt to what we got a bit more.

After Staverly and Ashworth left, it’s gone slowly downwards (this is not on Eddie btw). I really miss the optimism, the great communication and interactions with the fans, the trangers rumours, the quick dealings, the signing out of nowhere, everything that made things buzzying the first few years:undecided:

Remy's my favourite Ashley-era striker. Not sure I could see him pressing though, whereas Ba and Wilson would.

Honestly think it's Wijnaldum by a mile like. The epitome of a Howe midfielder and a really good and successful one at that.

Yeah he was the invisible man in away games. I'm classing this more like him at Liverpool.

He’d fit right in away from home this season.

If manu or Chelsea come knocking (as per some rumours), offering decent money, should we listen? And would Howe even consider it?

We should tell them both to fuck right off before they have even had the chance to utter one syllable.

Only thing id be worried about is Howe fancying the challenge but everything suggests he'd stay here and we should fight tooth and nail to keep him here.

Some excellent points.

Sissoko and Gini in this midfield would be great.  They have the perfect attributes for a Howe midfielder.

Both came in for massive criticism, and they had their flaws, but they were pretty comfortably the best players we had at the time, and that's how we got big money for them. The market usually trumps opinions.

When it comes to managers you don’t really get a choice. They would approach him and if he says yes then all you can do is try to extract some money from it. You can’t keep a manager that wants out, it can tank the team far more than any grumpy player.

Think it would have been interesting if we’d had Ivan Toney under Howe. I’d also have liked tiote in the current team and tried to turn Tonali into a goal scoring midfielder.

More seriously I’d have loved Ben Arfa/Remy/Ba. Lejeune would have fitted in so nicely at his best with our current crop.

If you could have any Ashley-era signing for Howe’s team today, who would it be and why?

The player would join us at the same age and profile they were when they signed under Ashley.
