Properly good tonight. Seemed everybody knew exactly what the fuck they were meant to be doing, and we were so close to beating the champions in their own back yard. Think that's the best this formation has worked, likely owing to Hall and Miley being able to slot into midfield so effortlessly. Such a pleasing performance, particularly off the back of very disappointing one at the weekend. Howe navigates us to the last 16 and makes yet more history. That would be massive.

Played a blinder tonight. Shakey start but thought we would’ve been deserved winners tbh.

The madcap pen decision played into the shaky start. Can't be easy going into the game against a top team knowing the ref is breaking his neck to give them something

Disappointing 0-0 away to Palace and an extra 10 ‘Yes’ votes.

Does that number ever come down? Nobody willing to accept they got it wrong and change their mind?

It's wild to me that Howe has psychology broken some of our supporters by just being objectively good at his job and winning a trophy and that. Bizarre mentality, you'd think they'd be happy about it

I know our results are mixed at best with that formation but I generally do like it. As @Rich says, surely there's something in deploying our entire battalion of massive CBs all at the same time? I like how fluid it is too; you see Burn and Thiaw popping up in wide attacking areas and it adds another dimension.

A lot of Howe-outers would ditch Eddie for Luis Enrique but Howe has 1 win, 2 away draws (with corrupt refs) over him. With vastly inferior/injured teams.

How heartening was it that we gave it to PSG on a night where Ramsey and Willock were in midfield and Miley at RB. Goes without saying Miley just continues to amaze, but Willock and Ramsey, and even Elanga all looked like actual useful players. If we can get consistent performances to what these lads have done in the past it immediately makes our team twice as good. Please God, for those 3 to kick on from here and be assets, it'd be absolutely key to us winning away games and blitzing the second half of the season instead of limping through. Brilliantly done by Eddie tonight, I couldn't have expected such a performance.

Some have suggested far dafter choices than Enrique. But it’s an insane point anyway. Howe has given us some incredible moments, our first trophy in nearly a lifetime, and just as importantly, stability.

grow with him or likely recycle a manager ever couple of seasons given who would even come here. It just appears to be thinking governed by the limbic system, and not the medium and longer term.

Aye, Eddie's five at the back is so dynamic and players have a lot of positional freedom. Insane how well-drilled we often look playing it considering how rarely we use it. Would never call it a more defensive formation than the usual 4-3-3.

But but he never changes formation.

Eddie Howe never learns  can't get a result away  is too stubborn  won't rotate  has poor in-game management

Fuck, er, I just don't like the look of him. Saudis, something something, serious questions, something something, not elite.

I suppose the pretty major issue with playing a back 3 is that it involves using all 3 of our fit centre backs. Krafth, Lascelles and Schar are all missing so there is literally nobody.

Botman can get injured at anytime and then you’re down to 2, so you can neither play the system or have any back up for the position at all.

The rest of the PL fixture will be a test. That's where we've struggled but we are still in with a great shout if we can string some results together.

Guess in games you dominate it might look a bit more like Amorim’s 3-4-3, which is why I wasn’t brave enough to mention it before

Does allow the two wide players to get closer to Woltemade, which is a big improvement.

It's worked much better in tricky away games where we'll have space to counter like Arsenal and then tonight. Less so in games where we have to force the issue like Everton on the final day.

Agree it's extremely effective, we just need to wheel it out at the right time. Wouldn't mind seeing it again on Saturday.

I'd give it another bash against Liverpool. I don't really want to see another typical PL performance. It's so predictable. Same as PSG today, there's not that much to lose, tbh.
