His achievements here aren't lost on me I can assure you that. How long are we going to give him slack because he kept us up against the odds in 2022 though?

Do you think Liverpool will hold onto Slot for another 3 years because he won them their first non asterisk title in 35 years if he continues to underperform or will they think like a big, progressive club and make a change becausethey feel he can't take them any further?

Howe has done a great job here overall, but at the moment he's tarnishing his legacy.

I mean you don't need to go back that far, just go back to last May, or March 2025. Until this season his Newcastle CV has been exemplary.

Comparing us to Liverpool seems pointless, we're in completely different worlds as clubs. We're not in a position where we can sack a league winning manager and realistically know we can attract the very best there is. They can.

The mitigating circumstances of a bad window should be balanced out by the mitigating circumstances of a good window.

If were a horrible watch, disorganised defensively and midtable because of a bad window then were we only good because of the good windows the preceded it?

What I put on the manager is how shit we've played on the field for the vast majority of games from the start of the season, how frail we are defensively, how disorganised we are generally, how limp we are in attack, our season long desire to throw leads away and concede so readily after scoring - which have never looked like being resolved for more than a week.

Thats on the manager because when he came in he managed to heavily organise us generally and have probably the best defensive unit we've had and the good football that was played irrespective of personnel that was signed for him or at his behest.

If the owners genuinely really want to be considered in the conversation for winning the CL and PL in 2030 then, sad as it is to say it, Howe will be sacked in the coming weeks. This, moreso than any stadium announcement will tell us what the future holds.

I mean, Man City didn't think twice about sacking Pellagrini(?) once he won the league and Pep was available.

3 clean sheets in the league since October and 1 in 17 in all comps.

That's nowt to do with Paul Mitchell, the hierarchy, Isak, the summer etc. It's a side that hasn't been set up with the right mentality, tactics or been coached well enough to keep goals out.

In think it's a bit to do with all of those things as well as the coaching/tactics etc. Howe is clearly accountable to how his current team plays but you're listing things which have all been massively influential on the season.

Out of curiosity, Howe presented a list of players he wanted. Mbeumo etc, they decided to go to other clubs for various reasons - how is the board to blame for this exactly?

No team in the Premier League this season has let slip more points from winning positions than Newcastle's 22.

If those points were not lost we'd be in 2nd in the league.

If me uncle had tits etc. However even not losing half those points would have us in CL contention again.

Our trademark in the past under Howe was when we scored one we'd often score our second and sometimes even third within minutes of the first one

Obviously Isak helped with that but us being unable to kill games is such a huge drop off this season

I've been supporting this clubs for nearly 37 years, I can not remember us losing during that period and that is a FACT

They're about as much to blame as Howe for it... They aren't. You can't do anything about players simply wanting to go elsewhere whether it's for more money or other reasons.  However, having someone in place who's experienced in the negotiation process is probably helpful, which is on the board.

Even dropping only half would have us in 5th.

You could say that about most teams. If Chelsea beat us, Sunderland and Everton, Leeds and Brighton they would be pushing for the title.

Not sure about the before/after HT thing but we definitely fade really badly towards the end of each half. 28 conceded in the last thirds of halves compared to 17 in the other 60 mins. That's alarming

That graphic perfectly describes us under Howe:

Start intense, maybe get a goal.

Fade out towards halftime, concede a sloppy goal either just before or after HT.

61-75 played out with us struggling to break them down.

Concede goals towards the end as we lose our minds.

Reckon that could be the match report for 75% of our games this season.

With this three week break we should have all of our players back. We play Palace who are focused on Europa and will be playing 3 days before.

Bournemouth who are below us at home

Arsenal away but will have played more games than us will likely be in a cup semi and Europe still. Tough game but we can get at perennial bottlers.

Brighton who aren’t special

Forest who are turgid

West Ham who are going down

Fulham who will be on the beach.

If it’s the same turgid performances then Howe simply has to go, but the fixtures are there for him to turn this around.

5 wins and a draw will get Europe.

Nagelsmann - could look to get back into club football

Iraola - contract expires in the Summer

Tuchel - contract expires in the Summer

Glasner - leaving in the Summer

Sebastian Hoeneß - statistically one of the best managers in Europe

Conte - free agent and serial winner

Simone Inzaghi - one of the top managers in Serie A

Wildcard

Xavi - would be interesting to see what he can do with the team

Mourinho - people will disagree with this one but a sentimental part of me wouldn’t be against this

I don't think Iraola is any better than Howe. Same problems.

Conte is a winner but the style of football would be awful. Same goes with Mourinho.

Nagelsmann, Alonso? Ancelotti? Zidane? Is Luis Enrique leaving this summer?

There are options if they choose to axe Howe.

Every member of this forum if they’re being honest with themselves can’t recall more than 2 (3 at a push) 90 minute performances this season. Can’t remember the last time when I’ve left the ground thinking ‘fuck me that was class’ in the league. Probably Man United which was in April 2025…

Probably 5 or 6 mint performances since the cup final. Really felt like this version of NUFC peaked that day so I believe it’s time for a change .

You’ve got to laugh a year ago we break our trophy duck and today we lose to these cunts for the 2nd time this season. Only Newcastle United can do this to you.

Today was rinse and repeat and he only knows how to play one way. Come out of the traps fast and press until we can’t run anymore. He’s signed a team full of runners and the fact these cunts looked more composed on the ball in the 2nd half is unacceptable.

Absolutely disgraceful today and bad as anything served up under Pardew.
