Its the same for every club to be fair. Footballers are fickle.

That’s true yeh but there’s barely even a glimpse of resolve

I mean, if it’s the end then it’s the end, you can’t defend what we’re seeing on the pitch at the moment.

I still don’t think he has enough good players to call on right now to reliably win any PL match. And of course our confidence is shattered which makes it even worse.

I get that but at the start of the season we were happy with the team. All of the players look to have dropped 2 levels in their performance. Bruno aside.

that best midfield in the world is still here and it’s been bang average all season.

didn’t you think Murphy was not coached to follow the left back in these kinda build-up?

Murphy is the last one that is not willing to run for the team. He is a die hard fans for Newcastle. Why would he down-tool when the team is in crisis?

He is just not been coached in training re these pattern. I am surprised that you single out Murphy to down tool

I'm not saying Murphy downed tools, just that he switched off

And you can argue that with lots of players doing that it’s down to Howe but I think the problems of the season are fully seeped in now

I don't think any good is coming from this season, just needs to end so we can put it behind us

I'm sure Spurs wish they stuck with Pochettino those years ago. You have to get the next appointment spot on and that's not going to be easy.

We're more likely to end up like Spurs by sacking him.

Were like Spurs now.

Eddie is a legend but it's unraveling fast for him at the moment. I also don't believe for a second that there's no one better to bring in. We still have quality players and I believe any random Euro cunt playing a simple attacking 4-2-3-1 would have us compete for at least the Conference and EL spots.

Spurs were 4th when they sacked Conte...

It wasn't one decision that lead them to this, it was multiple bad decisions

I have a feeling that the hierarchy might dismiss him after today‘s shit show

Don't see them making any decision until the end of the season myself.

Still comes down to the fact there probably won't be a better time to bring in a new manager than this summer.

Keep faith in Eddie or bring a new manager in, there is big risk either way.

A bad start to the season and its another year/likely two written off when he is sacked and the new manager has Eddie's squad plus an extra 100-200m's worth of players Eddie just brought in.

Bring someone in come season end, it has to be a perceived step up and a next level manger or its almost pointless. Can we bring that person in with so much competition.

Yeah, but it has been very fragmented. We’ve rarely been able to put out all three for long enough to build a rhythm. And obviously right now the confidence is also shot.

I don’t think we have many quality players TBH. Especially if we are planning to sell Gordon and Tino.

You worked with the CEO Right? You think he won't accept this despite what Eddie has done?

Worked for an agency they hired (his directors at MLSE) and presented to him twice. He’s extremely measured, fair, but ruthless when it’s called for. I remember him being respectful and honest during the meetings I was a part of.

I can’t see him accepting the current form and position we’re in given his lofty goals. I imagine he likes Eddie and his work ethic (Hopkinson was the workaholic type), but the results on display right now are an eye opener regardless of football pedigree.

The worst thing today was we set up and produced a carbon copy of the Palace performance.

I love Eddie and will always be my favourite manager for winning a trophy but I think the tine has come where he deserves a send out off and a rebuild, I would hate it to end ugly, I'd love him to get a final game where fans could give him a send off.

Today it looked like the players are not playing for him which is wrong but that's football for you I guess

I love Eddie as a man and will forever be grateful for the best sustained spell in my long years of following the club, but it ain't working.

I don't blame him, but something needs to change. It's become very stale.

The worst thing is that many other posters predicted today's result days ago. There will be reasons for what happened today, factors beyond Eddie's control, but I think the die is cast when the pessimists getting proven right week after week. Bournemouth hit the throughball we scored from, that's how bad our attacking play was. We're not losing because of the "bounce of the ball" or from mistakes from the inexperience of youth players we're trying to bed in. None of our youth players are playing.

Yeah that's on him and purely him and nobody other than him. For that amount of money spent it has been a disaster.

People that want him to turn it around next year are essentially banking their hopes on Howe's methods being adequate enough next year and for the subsequent season in Europe somehow with a transfer window this summer that is going to also work great for him, to then maybe hopefully play something other than his usual style that he sticks with for every game week in week out (that's already been figured out). Something he has never done.

It’s on him but also the lack of functioning hierarchy in the club and whoever else was on the recruitment team.

That’s how I feel about it.

Our summer 2026 transfers have screwed us over big time

Yeah but you’d have to think we now believe the setup is better than it was then.

Talk of downing tools and lack of urgency towards the end by the players is daft imo, I don't know what some people are fucking looking at. It's a lack of composure and coherence brought on by panicky play that yields next to fuck all in most cases

Really appreciate all the insights you've shared about him. I think he's pretty unpopular however I can see the vision personally. That sponsorship deal to me was major as his mentality is the opposite of Silverstone's, plus if he's got more decision making ability than Eales had as the athletic reported then that's another major step forward.
