I believe the amount of involvement he’s had here is mainly to do with the lack of support around him. Also obviously it’s easier to accept whatever players Man City sign for you because you have loads of money and you basically know they’re going to be class. I imagine. Class players don't always make good signings. Elanga and Wissa were class players last season (in the context of players we can realistically attract to NUFC) and they've both been dogshit signings when it comes to their performances. We absolutely wouldn't be wasting our time with it if Howe was in effect fulfilling the role. Sure he didn't get on with Mitchell, but Ashworth speaks highly of Howe, as does Hughes, who he worked under at Bournemouth. Howe is constantly banging the "collaborative approach" drum and there areas such as talent ID, loans and the academy where he's often spoken about being in the dark. We've also recently added Bunce and a set piece coach to his staff, as well as Suds who will all offer fresh input. Do I believe he's a control freak? Absolutely. I also think he almost certainly has a significant input in finalising transfer targets, but football operations are so large now it's impossible for him to have his hooks in everything. He's not daft, he knows that, even if he is stuck in his ways from a coaching perspective.

If he stays, does he embrace this structure even though it's at odds with how he's worked for most of his career (given it's widely acknowledged he was the main man at Bournemouth who had control or final say in most footballing areas). The optimistic says he's a smart guy who will have learnt from the mistakes of the past, and will embrace the benefits of being able to focus on coaching and let others do the rest. The pessimist says he's known for being stubborn and a control freak and a leopard can't change its spots. Edited April 30 by bobbydazzla

Mole
Would be fine with the 433 staying in isolation if he changes things about it to better suit the players he has. It's not all about the formation specifically but the entire team just looks disjointed, maybe that's part of it but pretty sure it's possible to work a technically same formation. Whatever the issue he needs to find the solutions to it, or he'll be out of the job eventually. If not now, then some point next year because it's literally his job to figure that stuff out. Froggy
By far the best European coach I've had... So he's better than Rudi Garcia basically.

HaydnNUFC
Hope we can pick up in results and performances these last 4 games, will reduce the pressure on him absolutely having to start next season well. Fingers crossed he does.
Elliottman
After listening to that, I'm convinced he's been told he's here next season. He sounds like he's motivated for a Summer window, even excited I'd go as far to say. I'm all in.
alexf
Seperate to results and performances this season....I'll forever be grateful for his composure and sensible reactions in press conferences and post match interviews. Seeing the likes of Arteta and Emery etc. in the last few days being so dramatic and over the top just reminds me how nice it's been having a sensible talker for the last 5 years. Fingers crossed he does. If we go on a run there’s still a chance of a European spot. I’d love it to happen; but the evidence so far runs contrary to it. Maybe Bruno being fit again will be a big boost

Hopkinson's lack of endorsement earlier in the season wasn't helpful.

r0cafella
I must admit, I'm perplexed by the situation if I'm honest. Are the recruitment department as a whole that bad at maths they thought our business was sustainable? Massively concerning that long term planning is evidently not a thing at the club. Virtua Stiva
Hopefully the meeting has relieved a bit of pressure on him and he can maybe feel to tinker a bit in the last four games. The one thing I’m glad of is no uncertainty around the manager going into the summer, I think that’s the smart thing. Make your decision early and stick to it
