Conte also said through third parties he wouldn't be ready according to this - but knowing he takes jobs in the summer this could work until a long term manager is appointed. Risky but you never know Rather try and persuade Rangnick to come in as manager till the end of the season and then going back to his preferred option of sporting director appointing his successor. Wullie
Lampard needs to be looking for another mid-table Championship job. No credentials whatsoever.

SUPERTOON
We are literally in a position in the table that we can’t risk it on giving Jones anything other than 1 game or going anywhere near lampard. If any of those options become reality I actually would still expect us to go down.

Risky but you never know Shite source but hypothetically speaking.... Jones as manager would probably only work with an experienced assistant and/or staff. Whats the point of bring all them in to support Jones only to bin them if the new manager doesnt fancy them??
Fantail Breeze
I disagree. We’re one point from safety with 31 games to go. This squad is more than good enough to easily stay up and any half decent caretaker would achieve that. If we signed someone like Conte on a pre-agreement to join in the summer, allowing Jones to steady the ship wouldn’t concern me too much at all. If results began to sour or he didn’t get us clear enough of the drop, we could change it instantly and use the January window to keep us clear. Of course if there is a good managerial appointment available now, we should be snapping them up. This scenario is only relevant if we have to wait until January or the summer to bring someone in. That’s all based on the hope jones would have the ability to start getting us wins and soon which I’m convinced he doesn’t considering his only managerial experience was him getting sacked by Luton town. Yorkie
If there's genuine prospects of appointing basically anyone who's currently out of work then Lampard is a really weird shout, and I've no idea why we'd take a risk on someone like that. Kid Icarus
I can't get away from thinking that it'll end up being Rafa in the end. Maybe not the next manager, but in the long term.

toontownman
I think of all the names linked Lampard is absolutely isolated at the bottom. Even Gerrard would be better than that. I'm fine with them appointing a DOF first then a manager. Jones can take charge for a week or two. Bruce has to go though.

GideonShandy
If money is no object any more, just make Everton an offer they can't refuse for Rafa. "We'll pay you 30 million quid tomorrow to let him out of his contract." This project is perfect for him, and I bet he knows that.

Kaizero
I'd take essentially anyone other than Potter. Not at all convinced from before and just saw he is one of two managers with an even worse PL record than Bruce. Last season their expected goals and expected points stats were WAY higher than where they ended up and this season they are doing very well. I am not 100% sure about him, but I think there is probably a good manager there who will manage at a higher level in future.
