Gayle has scored 20 odd goals twice in two championship seasons, including 10 MotM performances compared to Armstrong's 6, 1, 5 and 16 goal seasons with 1 MotM performance. But it would feel strange re-signing him and not exactly a transfer to excite people or suggest we're going to do anything but struggle this season. Maybe we’ve got some sort of sell-on clause so thinking of the cashback we’ll get from the deal. Never rated him though. It's transparent as fuck though. No imagination, no strategy, just familiar and bonus Geordie. Andy Carroll all over again.
