Luke Egghead's reputation on the line if Bruce can't get the Leicester reject in after wasting two transfer periods trying to make it happen. They don't even want him there, how hard can it be?

After seeing the state of St James at the weekend and the fact we still haven't spent any money yet I'm convinced Ashley has checked out and wants nothing to do with the club now.

How is this any different to the other 14 years with him?

The club is just so pathetically inept with transfers

That Telegraph article saying Bruce's mood had darkened over transfer failings was very amusing. Guy really thought his sucking up to Ashley was going to continue to pay off with whatever signings he wanted

Because in other years he at least spent money that the club generated, he has spent nothing this summer.

He brought in Hendrick and Krafth, he needs to get them performing or out of the door to make space for quality players. He was also backed on Joelinton and Lewis to the tune of £50m, and they can't get in a team which has awful full backs and a striker who is fit for 25% of the season.

Ashley will tell him to get on with it or get stuffed, and Bruce will drop his head and say "Yes boss".

What did people expect - a rash of deadline day signings?

Pathetic club - squad is weaker now than it was 12 months ago. Will questions be asked in the media? Of course not. 'Bruce is doing the best he can', etc - echoes of how the MSM deal with the Tories, whilst the UK burns around them.

Tbh Bruce is lucky he got Willock. Ashley once went 4 or 5 transfer windows without signing a player for a fee permanently.

Totally, and I kinda hate how this sort of thing gets glossed over - not that I'm saying the transfer policy is in any way functional or acceptable. But he's had competitive cash backing every summer, with his main targets secured every time, and we're still absolute wank. Any 'hands tied' agenda you might hear with Bruce is basically total bollocks; even Pardew was working under far tighter restrictions than this dickhead.
