Debuchy was the best aerial defender I’ve seen for us I reckon. Guy never lost a header.

Did we have two Debuchys. He was regularly beaten by a man coming in behind him and him just not knowing the the attacker had arrived. It was his blind spot.

can't remember much about his marking, but he was dominant in aerial duels. from goal kicks etc

Still going strong at 37 for Valenciennes in Ligue 2. He's become a CB in his latter years, probably due to how good he is in the air.

From club website:

"I'm quite a social person so I don't really have problems getting to know new people. The people here are just lovely, man – so kind in the city, and it's really easy to settle down here," ... "People ask me how I settled so quick, but the environment is such a friendly environment. Everybody is helping each other.”

Lovely to read.

That’s just how it goes, we have to be realistic about some of the players we have here. They will attract interest and if the valuations are met, they will go. Nothing necessarily wrong with that.

It does underline how vital securing European football is for next season.

Top players will always attract interest, it means they're performing at a high level.

Thankfully when it comes to key players, we're now in a position to tell buying teams where to go. If the player wants the move, we can demand a ludicrous amount that can be invested back into the team.

Given Botman said that his dream was to play in the Premier League and he's only 24 games into his first season, I'm not too concerned at this stage

Worrying that he was part of that excellent unbeaten run, but more importantly part of the team on a three match losing streak.

Burn has gone from "we shouldn't be dropping him for Botman" to "string him up from the Tyne Bridge" in the space of six months.

He's been a bit off for the last few games, but he looked so good for so long you just feel it's a blip. As they say, form is temporary, class is permanent.

Loads of money will drop off the wage bill next season which will help. All the lads they paid to go out on loan, Wood, Shelvey, Fernandez with some sales added on. Couple of new headline sponsors and increased TV money will see not have to do too much to sign 2-3, maybe 4 first teamers from outside the PL/1 year left.

Be daft to sell anyone who’s played regularly this season IMO unless they kick up a stink.
