Actually I've already changed my mind. We've chased this lad for ages and he'll know he's Liverpool's 2nd choice. I'm back in.

good thinking, its not over until we see him in their shirt

The problem for Liverpool is that Isak is their number one target. If they're struggling to put a financial package together for him this summer, it becomes more difficult if they pay a huge sums for Ekitike and Guehi this summer.

Absolutely this.

Despite a few airheads on social media calling it a Liverpool power play (Goldbridge), we hold all the cards

The classic chess game is played in 2-dimensions, is it not? What am I missing? [emoji38]

I'm not talking about our perception, which is clearly 3D. But there are only 2 dimensions on a normal chess board, right?

It is a power play tbf. Basically bullying us into "you're not having both so decide which one you want"

Disagree.

Nothing stopping us saying Isak not for sale (which we have) and continuing to push hard for Hugo

No there isn't.

But that doesn't negate Liverpools move which was a power move. To try and bully us.

Arguments both ways i guess.

Us going for Ekitike in the first place knowing he was on Liverpool's radar as well as Isak, also a power move?

It's a total power play, and an obvious one to make.

Doesn't mean it'll work (I think it will, personally) but thats definitely what it is.

Unfortunately I think we can see where it's going now - and was always a good chance that would be the case.

People need to stop getting into a huff about 'being played' or whatever when we get beaten to players. We're going for top quality players for huge money that other big clubs also want. But I'd rather we were trying to do that than settling for a lower pool.

We're just going about our business and building our team (seemingly). Not sending threatening ultimatums to our rivals

With Ekitike so in demand / admired across Europe, and the ST market being so poor, would it not be worth us over-paying for him, or at least going above our supposed £70m offer to get it done ASAP, so we hold all card next summer with potentially 2 of the best number 9's in football?
