Coffee_Johnny
Wonder if our boy is getting pelters in Brazillian press? I didn’t watch closely but despite seeing a fair bit of the ball nothing seemed to come off for him, and caught sight of a despairing (embarrassed?) look as he lay face down on the turf at the end. Decent ratings on BBC sport, so maybe worrying about him needlessly.

Geordie Ahmed
I watched the Serbia-Switzerland game but recorded the Brazil one to watch later if Bruno came on Read some comments about him being awful and nothing working so expected to see that and I find those comments bizarre Yeah, he probably should have scored, the header was his easiest chance but I thought he was good aside from that, drove the team forward and put the lines of Antony in positions to create something but it was wasted
frankpingel
Think he was slightly over trying to make an impact. He was constantly involved and with a bit of luck could've bagged a couple of goals. Absolutely nothing to be concerned about, he's an absolute gem. pedro111
I thought he did really good last night. That spinning back heel anyone? He had a few bad moments but by and large his touches were very positive and brought the team upfield.

Had some really lovely touches but gave the ball away needlessly at times and was bullied on the ball a couple of times which is really unusual for him. He was still involved loads though and clearly made an impact, just needs to settle down a bit.

I feel bad for him personally, but from a Newcastle POV it's not the worst thing. He's exactly what Brazil need ahead of some of their big lights, but better for us if he stays behind Paqeta and Fred.
Cronky
Admittedly based more on a hunch than evidence, but I think Bruno is actually one of that big group of players which include Joelinton, Longstaff, Willock and Almiron, who Eddie has managed to improve. Bruno looked uncharacteristically nervous when he came on. Normally, he looks like he owns the place (in a positive way, of course)

JNK
Bruno had two bad games, the anxiety clearly got to him and he still had better numbers than Fred. After last game brazilian midia is treating him like a disappointment.
gbandit
Is Sports media reactionary in every country? Seems like most nations’ press swing from loving a player to hating a player based on tiny sample sizes, e.g. one really good or bad game

He's been ok in his two sub appearances so far, yes he missed a couple of chances the other night, but his overall play was anything but bad.

Seems like most nations’ press swing from loving a player to hating a player based on tiny sample sizes, e.g. one really good or bad game I think it's because none of this really matters, so they have to make it emotionally charged. Especially on a national program in the US, I'm in California and I could give a fuck if the first baseman for the St Louis Cardinals showboated after hitting a home run against the Cubs. Don't. Care. So, to make that listenable for me and the rest of the country the presenters have to get all riled up and pissed off about it, "this is outrageous! It's a bad look for all of baseball! You need to have respect for the game blah blah blah" all fired up like someone stole their mailbox. Otherwise who would give a shit? Talk radio in general is like that, amped up outrage to get people to give a shit about non-events, but sports is especially bad because it's all so silly to begin with. Miercoles
It's one of the things that makes Alexi Lalas so unbearable to watch. He does this at about 300% and he's also just really really bad at it. Ham-fisted would be the word. "You. Have. To. Hit. The. Headers. With. Your head!!! This is soccer! You have to get up there with your head, and hit the ball with it!" .... Thanks, Lex. Edited December 4, 2022 by Miercoles
pedro111
Really, Bruno's performance the other night was fine. For the last 20 minutes he was playing almost as a forward which is not his game and missed a few chances. Had the game went on longer I reckon he would have scored. He was clearly just trying a bit too hard to make an impression in half an hour on the pitch.
